Hi:

I'm stumped here. I have a worked TH 350 trans that I just installed in my camaro. It has a full manual valve body. (forward pattern) I also have a trans cooler. I can't figure out why but for some reason as i downshift pressure must be building up and shooting trans fluid onto my header!! I can't tell if it's only from 2nd to 1st, but thats when I notice it. I already changed the dipstick and it's still happening. What would cause that much pressure? The car is shifting fine. Should I have use a larger diameter hose for the trans cooler? I used 5/16, which I never had a problem with before. This is my first "racing" tranny I have worked with, so I have no idea what to do next. Is there something I can put around the base of the dipstick to keep the fluid from coming out??

Thanks

Where the dipstick tube goes into the tranny there should be a small rubber washer that goes around the dipstick tube. Might wanna check and see if it's still there.

If dipstick is of 1st design, it will be an O-ring. Second design has a necked down and uses a funnel-shaped seal.

As 68 RS suggested, check to make sure good seal at the interface of tube-to-case.

After checking/repairing tube seal, pull out dipstick about an inch and test drive. If it still happens, then maybe the case vent might be plugged. This is the plastic piece on top of the case, or its route inside the case.
