I replaced my 68 RS trunk pan, and I would like to know the proper location to drill the holes for the backup light wire/grommet. Other threads on this site show the 69 RS wire hole to be on the outside of the trunk brace. I don't this is correct for 68 due to the location of the lights and the length of the wire. My old pan was mashed up and poorly repaired, but seemed to have the holes down in the pan itself, not up on the 'shelf' and on the rounded corner part of the back of the pan. Can anyone help here, or post or send a photo? Are both sides' holes in the same mirror image location? Thanks to anyone that can help - I also posted this question in the Body Shop forum, because I'm not sure which forum is correct for this question.

I would have to look at my 67 again but, I am thinking from memory that it is on the outside of the bumper bracket on the shelf part of the trunk. 67-69 should all be the same.

Thanks for the replys so far. I still question the holes being on the outboard side of the bumper brackets on a '68 because the length of the backup light wires and location of the grommet on the wires doesn't look it would reach under the frame rail end up to the trunk floor. The lights are on the inboard side of the frame rails. Anyone's help here would be appreciated.

Mine are on the inboard side of the frame rails. They are about 1-3/4" in from the rail. The trunk pan has a flat area right next to the frame rail and then a slight dip to another flat area before dropping off into the trunk pan. My grommets are in this middle flat area.

Randy and Kevin, Thanks for the information, and especially for the photo Kevin. This seems to confirm what I had thought about the '68 location. I assume that the '67 may be the same. All the other posts on the site refer to the '69 location, which now is confirmed to be different than the first two years. Thanks again.
