Hey guys,

Somewhere between the engine shop and when I got it, the throwout bearing for the CFII has gone MIA. I have a brand new stock type throwout bearing, and it looks to match up fine with the CF pressure plate. I know the aftermarket clutches come with their own t.o. bearings, just not sure if theyre really that much different.

My question is, would there be any issues using the OE style t.o. bearing with the CFII clutch setup?

TIA,

dave

The Centerforce, Hays, McLeod, etc and the down-the-street parts store version are all made by BCA. Here and there you may find an INA part. I have not seen a Chinese version of this part, but it could exist so beware.

The BCA part will have a BCA logo somewhere on the part. The INA part has a phenolic bore sleeve.

So does that mean it will be okay to use?

The O.E. type bearing is the same bearing used by Centerforce, Hayes, etc.

If its the short one , 1 1/4 tall , its a BCA 1705 or a Timken 614018, Autozone carries the Timken, dont ask for it by application as they will have to ask all those questions, just give them the part #. Centerforce calls it N1716?

Thanks guys.

The one I have is the 614018, in a Federal Mogul box.

The CF TOB has a completely flat face. Some of the other replacement TOBs have a rounded face. CF says the rounded edges will be damaged by the clutch fingers. However, my old CF TOB has virtually all the wear pattern in the center of the face, well away from where the rounded edges are on a regular TOB. I'd probably try it. Just make sure you set the geometry correctly and you should be good to go.

614018 is standard industry part #

Round face tob's are for borg/beck plates.
