Does anyone have a pic of where the factory ground wire for the battery goes? i have sometimes used the altenator bracket and dont like to. i was thinking that the factory mount was down on the frame. any info would be appreciated.

I think all factory battery negative cables go directly to the motor and then there are smaller wires or braided cable that go from the negative battery post to the fender or from the engine to the firewall. Any connection to the frame is useless as it sits on rubber mounts to the radiator support and the body of the car at the base of the firewall and under the seats and the engine is also on rubber mounts as well as the transmission mount to the cross member. In other words the frame is floating on rubber insulators and is not bolted to or tied to the engine of the car or to the body in any good electrical way.
The biggest current drawing device on a car is the engine starter and if you have one big cable going to the starter solenoid, you need the same size off of the starter or the engine to return power back to the battery. I've seen the grounds on the alternator brackets, on the alternator itself, or to to the cylinder head. What's factory correct for your is probably one of those locations. I doubt the battery negative cable goes to the frame.

i was concerned about the bushings, then i started thinking, well the subframe is conneted to the bumper which is connected to the fender which is connected to the body of the car. it just looks odd with it connected to the alt., i think i go with a head bolt in the back of the block and run it along the frame with the positive wire. thanks for the help.

There is a better place for the ground cable. Just to the right side of the fuel pump, there are two holes on the front side of the block. It works good there and is out of sight.:)

That's where I put mine too. Those holes were for the original tri-5 mounitng, still there after all these years!

my block dosnt have any holes, it is a 78 350 4bolt main block, the car has headers, i guess i could use the front bolt with a lock washer.
