I have a 67 SS that I bought about a year ago. I have had several people stop by when I am out working in the garage and those that seem to know something about Camaros always ask or look to see if the car has the "Factory radius rod". What is with the factory radius rod? My car has the multi-leaf springs with a 12 bold rear end and NO radius rod. There is not even a bracket on the rear axle or a radius rod bracket on the underside of the car. Was this a rare option in 67? Why does this seem to be so important of camaro enthusiasts? Does this mean that my car could not have the original factory rear end?
Thanks,

It was put on the Higher HP cars, starting around the middle of December 1966 to help with the wheel hop problem the 67's had.

GM staggered the rear shocks in 1968 and the wheel hop problem went away.

If you have a multi-leaf rear end then it is not a stock configuration. All 1967 cars had a single-leaf rear end. The radius rod was added mid-year to correct a wheel hop problem. It was a round or triangle rod that attached to the right side of the axle and to the underside of the frame. It was supposed to keep the leaf spring from twisting during hard acceleration. It only works moderately well on my car; I still get wheel hop.

If your car is a true SS then it would be a single leaf with the radious rod, provided it was built after Dec of 66. Maybe someone changed out the rear end.

This is not quite a true statement. Not all of the 67 SS Camaros had the radius rod even after Dec 66. Lots of 350/powerglide cars never got the rod. Not even all of the 350/4-speed cars got them. If it was a big block, then this statement might be true, but even then, never say never :)
ALL 67 Camaros had single leaf springs.

Change out the 67 LR spring mounting plate and install a 68 plate......wheel hop is now history.
