View Full Version : dse brighthead lights are they worth the money importkiller69ss Feb 8th, 06, 07:35 PM i hate the stock lights and i have a chance to pick up a set for about 60 less than dse sells them...are the worth it are they that much brighter Brian Lewis Feb 8th, 06, 08:16 PM ... Brian Lewis Feb 8th, 06, 08:20 PM Halogen Technology is Halogen Technology, just a different package. If you want the brightest, go Sylvania H6024XV, if you want the brightest and whitest, go Sylvania H6024ST, but no running a DSE piece of glass with a Sylvania H4 bulb isn't going to be any brighter than a Sylvania H6024XV/ST, now upgrading to Low/High Beam Relays WILL make your headlights that much brighter. Also recommend a good 8 gauge run from the alternator to the horn relay or wherever you feed your headlight relays off of. importkiller69ss Feb 8th, 06, 08:34 PM where would i get the sylvania...there are better than the dse with the replaceable bulbs? are they cheaper Rocketrod Feb 8th, 06, 09:18 PM Here is a pic of the DSE lights, which doesn't do them justice. The new lights made the front end of the car come alive. I am always getting asked where I got the headlights. Yes there not cheap, but I would recommend them and replacement bulbs are around $5-$8 versus $25ish for the Sylvanias. I also second installing relays on the front headlights. Brian Lewis Feb 8th, 06, 09:56 PM Most auto part stores carry the H6024XV, they run $8.35 at closeoutautoparts.com, about $16 in the stores. H6024ST are $20/ea at autobarn.com Sylvania H4 bulb (for DSE) run $19.95 for the SilverStar So its much cheaper to just buy the H6024ST/XV's vs buying the DSE housing + then still having to buy a high quality bright 4000k Color Temperature bulb to insert into them. The $5-$8 bulbs are going to be similiar to your standard H6024 bulbs (non ST/XV models) Rocketrod Feb 9th, 06, 07:09 AM Most auto part stores carry the H6024XV, they run $8.35 at closeoutautoparts.com, about $16 in the stores. LOTS of light, and have a sharp cutoff the avoid blinding other people. They work extremely well and are worth the cost. These are E-code lamps (European compliant), and the technology is far ahead of DOT's standards. Here's a link to where I bought two pair: http://www.rallylights.com/hella/7in.asp Bar-none the best light output except for quality HID lights. importkiller69ss Feb 9th, 06, 07:49 AM those light look good what did you do about the pigtal for the wires..did they use teh stock one? importkiller69ss Feb 9th, 06, 07:49 AM did they fit the housing without modifying them importkiller69ss Feb 9th, 06, 07:51 AM im looking at the H6024C does that look liek a good choice Brian Lewis Feb 9th, 06, 08:56 AM Importkiller69ss, The H6024CB is a great bulb as well. It runs at 3500k color temperature, vs 3200k from the H6024XV, same wattage (55 low, 65 high) so its just as bright as the XVs that I run but are producing a slightly whiter light. What has always scared me was the 'cool blue' name, I had thought when I bought my XVs that the CB would be a blueish light wave but I was wrong. As it states on their site, its 300k higher in the color temperature. So you have H6024 - Original Technology H6024XV - 3200k, 55/65 wattage (Much brighter technology) H6024CB - 3500k, 55/65 wattage (Much brighter a little whiter) H6024ST - 4000k, 55/65 wattage (Much brighter much whiter) So if you go XV, CB, ST you can't go wrong, its all up to the color temperature you want! importkiller69ss Feb 10th, 06, 09:55 AM well i took silver69's word and bought them from here http://www.rallylights.com/hella/7in.asp they seemed liek they knew alot and helped me pic one out that eh said would look and work awesome...all for 107 shipped to my door.. let see how good they work and look in a few days |
