I'm sure it's here and I did the searches but couldn't find my answers so here goes.
What year Nova's and what other cars had the 8.5 rear that will bolt into a 68 camaro with no mods except driveshaft?
How do I identify the 8.5 from the 8.2 or 7.5 etc.?

12 bolts from 1967-1969 Camaro's and 1968-1972 Novas, Omegas, Venturas, and Apollos will all fit. Someone else will have to answer the other questions for ya.

The Nova and other X body cars got the 8.5 10 bolt in '72. I know that they will work up to '76, but after that I don't now.

A 1975 Olds Omega 8.5 10 bolt will fit for sure! ;) the 8.5" units have very square lugs on the bottom right and left hand side of the diff cover! You can remove the cover and read the stampings on the ring gear too...

Any rear end from 68-79 Nova will bolt in a 1st gen Camaro.

Be carefull when looking at the Nova rear ends from '76 up. Some of them are the 7.5 rear ends, and some of them have the spring perches farther apart like the second gen Camaros. I have seen them myself. Measure them before you pull one out. The spring perches should be 42 1/2 inches from center to center.
