Hello. I am a patrol officer and I think I found something on a midnight shift one night. It is a 1970-73 Z28 I think. The entire front clip is off and leaned against another junk car. The front end is a ralley sport type. There a z28 badges on both the fenders. It has the large tail spoiler. It has an unk small block 4v. Since I havent owned a 2nd gen in about 14 years, I didnt know what else to look for as far as identifiers of a real Z. I can see the entire engine due to the front clip having been taken off. I do have access to the interior as well. If I am to look for certain numbers on the engine, where do I look exactly. I will most likely be looking at this thing in the dark since it is when I am out there. It is sitting and has been sitting behind some old shop. Please let me know what to look for and I will give it a good thorough look over and post my findings. Thanks.

If its a NOR car, should have 28 or Z28 on the trim tag. That would be a starting point.

Yeah, that reason would be checking an active alarm with shots fired in the area. Good enough for you ?

maybe go back during the day as a civilian and ask if you can take a look at it? be able to make things out better in the daylight, anyways...

V8...See if the gas pedal is floor mounted. Check the rubber bumpers on the lower A frame. There will be an aluminum block molded into it. The alum is about 1/4" thick. Good luck.

It wasnt a z. Im dissapointed. It had an olds engine. No z code at all in the space provided on the trim tag. It had a viny roof. No gauge package. Crap.

Ok Nova, isn't spotting a 2nd gen Camaro sitting in a yard unattended reason for "looking"? Day, night, doesn't matter. Any vintage Camaro needs a look see. Besides, I'll bet he was alone. No other gawkers. And who said you can never find a cop when you need one.
