I am new to this whole ordeal, but would like to ensure that I am taking the correct steps to paint my car.
I have already stripped the entire car and sanded it with 60 grit paper on an orbital sander, and bondo'd the required areas.
Am I right in that there are three main steps
1. Prime
2. Color coat
3. Clear coat
and obviously you may need to sand the primer coat and fix any imperfections, wet sand the color coat then clear coat the whole ordeal?
I am trying to put together a shopping list as it were of what I will and how much of it I will need. can anyone help with this?
Enamel, acrylic, ??? suggestions...
Thanks

Keep in mind that PAINT is only a color. Any imperfections in teh body will show through. On my car, I blasted the body, replaced the needed sheetmetal, spent alot of time with sealer (1), primer(2) and then block sanding the primer. Prime, block, prime, block, over and over until the car is smooth. Sealer, then paint. I would suggest you pick up a book on car painting first. Also, talk to others at shows and cruises. They will also offer tips. It is not hard work, just take your time and get the body right before paint. graemlins/thumbsup.gif
