tonight I started on the beginning of the ls1 swap, first order of business pulling apart the engine for head and cam swap and send harness to Speartech for rework. Hoping to have swap completed by late May in time for summertime cruising.

Good luck. I've wanted to do the swap for the last year but I have finally realized I'm never gonna have the cash to do it right. Keep us posted. John

will do, I am finding it not too bad on the costs though bought the motor and trans for $2500, will have about 450 in the harness, 200 to reprogram the computer, 40 for mounts, 600 for rad and fans, 800 for gas tank, 100 for the tranny cross member and had a local guy modify the oil pan for 40. All in, I will be somewhere around 5-6k when done. From what I have seen, a built sbc can run you that much.

phoenixdawg,
I'm in the middle of researching the conversion for my '68. Are you going with the 6-speed or 4L60E? Also, where did you get your motor? I'm trying to find a good deal on a complete motor right now. I want to have it in the shop while I'm gathering the other parts. Keep us posted on your progress.

I am going 4l60e got my motor from a pull out 2500 for motor and tranny, car had 60k miles on it and tranny was just rebuilt.
Tennessee Auto usually has good deals on the motors, also try pro-touring.com and ls1tech.com there are motors for sale there all the time.

With regards to your oilpan mod, do you have stock steering? Is he just notching the pan for you?
