Hi Guys,

I'm thinking of putting a Holly carb on my 68 SS/RS 325 HP 396 Camaro. I can't find the correct Rochester anywhere so I thought I'd go holly.

Does anyone recommend a particular model?

Cheers Mark J

Do you have the correct intake manifold?

I have a brand new Edelbrock 750 cfm. carb for sale. It was used for about 5 dyno pulls and the motor it was on demanded more fuel. It would be more than enough for that motor and Edelbrock recommends it for over 500 horse RPM package. It is polished also. Part number 1407. I am asking 150.00 plus shipping.

I figure you should be able to buy a stock rebuilt Q-Jet from someplace like AutoZone and others by just looking through their cat for the number you need.

You will need a core tho to exchange..

I also would recomend a rebuilt Quadrajet. If you have your heart set upon a Holley, consider their spread bore direct replacement carb. Not as good as the Rochester but has the look and feel of Holley as far as tuning and rebuilding.

Especially on a 325HP don't think about anything else but a Q-jet.

I have a Holley on my car and it's great. It is a 750cfm and the model is a 3310 if my memory serves me

Thanks guys, Looks like the Q-jet is the go. I'd love to go for the original 7028210 (or 7028218) Depending on who you speak to but haven't been succesful getting one. Does anyone know where I could get one?

OR....If I can't get the original 7028210 or 7028218 model Q-jet what is the NEW replacement for the 325HP 396

Finally, I do have the original manifold. I've posted the casting numbers on a prior post but dont have access to them at the moment.

I've made a bid. I've found someone in the US who I can have it sent to who will arrange to send it to me.

Does anyone know what I would be looking at to completely rebuild the Q-jet in the US and can you recommend any good companies that do this. I thought I might get a better job by a US company due to the volume business' do over there.

Thanks for all your help guys.

If that deal falls through, try the street avenger 770 - its a stupendous carb w/a lot of features for like $300.00 new on ebay.

The Holley direct replacement for a Q-jet is a LIST 6210. No adapter plate needed, small primaries, large secondaries.

Jerry MacNeish, I believe, would do a correct rebuild, as well as others out there.

The square bore carbs don't match up well with the bore spacing on the stock Q-jet manifolds. There is considerable overlap on the bores.

The 6210 is not what you want. Neither is just about any square bore carb except a 600CFM (360 HP came with a 600). Find a Q-jet it doesn't have to be the correct one the mild 325HP motor is not peticular about carbs.
