neonblue 69 Feb 17th, 06, 03:26 PM Thurs. 64 degrees,Fri. 32 degrees, tonite down to 10! Need to work on my car but it's to danged cold.
camaroman7d Feb 17th, 06, 03:50 PM This is the point us California guys start talking about how warm it is, etc... Well not this time it is 45* right now, lows in the upper 20's lower 30's. Thanks Canada for sending down some cold air, you can have it back now. Snow in the forcast. Just to give you an idea it snows in my area maybe once every 10 years (it's been about 10 years since the last time). The valley floor is supposed to get some snow this weekend. Just started raining so as the temps drop this evening, good chance the white stuff will fall. I guess I better park my truck someplace safe tonight. Calif. drivers are not the best at snow driving, LOL.
sixtsevnssrs Feb 17th, 06, 04:06 PM It was 2 F this morning on my way to the Base this morning. It will be colder tomorrow. Oh, and the wind is blowing like a mutha.
Can we say "Ready for Summer"!!
jr68 Feb 17th, 06, 06:12 PM weather man says -20 tonight with a wind chill of -35
and thats after yesterdays 11 inches of snow

69L65-4spd Feb 18th, 06, 01:21 AM -19 now. Wind chill at -39 according to weather channel. About a foot of fresh snow. Great weather for fishing. Will be on the ice Sunday. J.R.
MrDanB Feb 18th, 06, 08:46 AM We were supposed to get some kind of Arctic blast from Alaska, but it isn't as bad as they were forcasting. They said in the low teens for Saturdays highs! It's gotta be at least in the upper 20's :D Time to break out the shorts and sunglasses...
Dano:beers:
tmannet Feb 18th, 06, 09:27 AM After dropping to -18F here last night, it's -6F right now, actually feels almost 'nice' out in the sun (out of the wind of course). Once thing about extreme cold, once it does get above zero again, everyone is in a good mood, funny how that is...
pdq67 Feb 18th, 06, 09:29 AM It's 5 above out here in Columbia, MO right now..
Yes, a tad "brisk"..
pdq67
camaroman7d Feb 18th, 06, 09:32 AM I have only been in sub zero temps a few times. Never anything as extreme as -18 or -40, What in the world do you guys do, when it's that cold? Is there going to be a population increase 9 months from now in your areas? I will stop whining about the 34* degrees out here now. I really don't think I could live in some of those places, it must be great there other times of the year or something. Either that or you were born there and don't know any better.
Granny's 69 Feb 18th, 06, 09:51 AM It's a balmy 18*F here in OKC currently with the wind whipping around the light dusting of snow we received last night. Jeff, those Hawaii beachcam pics are just plain cruel! :( :D
tmannet Feb 18th, 06, 10:46 AM Royce, I was born here (WI) and so I don't know any better...I did live in AZ for a time, so I did get a taste of desert climate. Believe it or not, the cold is 'fun' - not the physical pain of the cold when you step outside, but people find all kinds of 'fun' things to do in the cold...although yes it is tempting to hibernate, procreate, and consume large quantities of alcohol. Things like 'winter carnival' are popular, not to mention the 'polar bear club.' jr68, are you a member of the polar bear club??
thorpe67RS Feb 18th, 06, 10:57 AM A balmy 14 degrees in upstate NY today and sub zero with the windchill. I like the weather here about 9 months out of the year...this is NOT one of those months!! If we could just fast forward 1 1/2 months all would be well.
jr68 Feb 18th, 06, 01:44 PM Tmannet,
not unless my car plunges off a bridge into the icey waters.
68 RS 302 Feb 18th, 06, 05:12 PM Here is Isle, MN on the shores of Lake Mille Lacs this morning, it was -22F below. Here in Minnesota we like to go out on frozen lakes and fish and occasionally we may consume alcoholic beverages..............LOL
pdq67 Feb 18th, 06, 05:23 PM Ooooooooooh!!!
WALLEYE!!
Frying in the skillet or broiling in the oven!!
pdq67
camaroman7d Feb 18th, 06, 07:22 PM I do have respect for those of you that endure those temps. year after year. I could get into ice fishing and maybe a little snow mobiling, other than that I'll pass. every place has it's ups and downs no matter where you are.
pdq67 Feb 18th, 06, 07:45 PM Royce,
I dearly love MO, but the older I get, the less I like the hot, damp summers and cold damp winters!!
BUT take them away, and we lose the change in color of our woods and such that is so great as the seasons change.
pdq67
BonzoHansen Feb 18th, 06, 08:22 PM It is 16* and dropping here.
TOMSTV Feb 18th, 06, 08:36 PM OH YEA! we're down to a nice toasty 10 this evening.
1969 RS/SS DROPTOP Feb 18th, 06, 08:51 PM 17 degrees here tonite.
jr68 Feb 18th, 06, 08:59 PM minus 5 here but my shop is a toasty 60.
I put the stainless window trim back on tonight and some headliner trim.
67RS/SS406 Feb 18th, 06, 10:43 PM Friday morning I filled my car with gas before heading to work and I asked what the temp was. They told me it was exactly -30 F:eek: I think Fridays high was maybe -5 at the most.Im not even gonna start talking about the wind chill:rolleyes:
68 RS 302 Feb 18th, 06, 10:54 PM North Dakota is really bad for wind chill since the fricken wind never stops blowing!!! I was stationed at Mindrot (Minot AFB) back in the late 80's-early 90's and it was the only time I ever saw -100 below with the wind chill. It was so cold that exposed skin would start freezing the moment you went outside. I'll never forget it. My truck refused to ever engage the starter. Poor truck.
67RS/SS406 Feb 18th, 06, 11:02 PM Yep,I live just 50 miles west of Minot,I was there just this morning doing a little shopping with the family.I picked up a set of Hoppy headlight aimers at a pawn shop for 40 bucks:thumbsup:
EC's 327 Feb 18th, 06, 11:26 PM 9 degrees here.....
novaderrik Feb 19th, 06, 12:39 AM why is it that when it gets cold here- and 30 degrees is NOT cold. -30 IS cold- it never makes the news, unless International Falls, Mn, sets a new record for coldest place in the US or whatever.
but, when the same cold air moves over the east coast, suddently it's a national tragedy.
power lines go down, people die, and they talk to people on the street that "can't believe it happened here", even tho it happens a few times a year...
what i want to know is WHY do they not make everything in the New England states as weather hardy as we make them here? it is an extremely rare event for cold weather or even massive amounts of snow to cause problems any more serious than kids getting a day off of school around here...
are us "fly over state" residents just a more hardy and logical people than the people out east?
tmannet Feb 19th, 06, 05:28 AM novaderrik, maybe we are more 'hardy' here in the upper midwest. But I think it's more that the cold/snow months are a big part of our culture, we EXPECT the cold snaps and heavy snow, many of us look forward to it and are sad if it's warm in the winter months, so it's not a 'crisis' as in other parts of the country...for example we have winter outdoor 'events', ice scuplture, ice fishing contests, yes even the polar bear club down 'south' in Milwaukee. We give each other birthday presents like jumper cables and ice scrapers, even if our birthday is in July, and no one thinks it's odd...
We also get a lot of warning if bad weather is coming...local tv stations get incredibly excited, the weatherman says over and over that 'exposed skin will freeze outside in ___ minutes'...

thorpe67RS Feb 19th, 06, 06:43 AM I know for us here in the Rochester NY area it seemed to be big news because we had 70 mph winds when the cold blew in. Actually 77mph recorded at the ariport here. Tens of thousands without power and some still without it after 2 days. Beyond that it was just really cold, which in February isnt really news for us either. And yes, you guys probably are more hardy...i cant stand these temps for very long or i go crazy.
BonzoHansen Feb 19th, 06, 07:18 AM Holy nuts, it is cold outside. 18* I have to go get beer for the 500 at 10. Brr....
camaroman7d Feb 19th, 06, 09:31 AM Are humans supposed to live in places like that? I don't know about the more "hardy" part. I think your brains are frozen, so you just think it's ok. By the time your brains thaw out, it time for winter again. LOL
I doubt I could do it, so I do give you guys respect for that. 30 is not cold? I think you forgot to add "to you" 30 is VERY cold to some of us.
stevo camaro Feb 19th, 06, 09:54 AM 68 yesterday, 15 right now....
And Jeff, I'm not even gonna click on your beachcam pics.
Exact same thing came to my mind Jim. I know how Jeff is. LOL
Northern Cal. this morning, 13 here at the house warming up to a balmy 25 by afternoon. Gee, might be able to put on my shorts by lunch, can't wait. LOL
Peter Constantine Feb 19th, 06, 11:14 AM I worked in the shop most of the day yesterday (Sat.)and watched the temp.drop all day.We went in to Boston last night to hear some music (Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, from Vermont).I didn't wear a coat because it's a pain once you get inside, carrying it around all night. When we came out around 12:30 it was 11* with a strong wind.It was a long walk back to the car! It's 26* now on Sunday afternoon, not too bad.
