Not sure where I should post this one sorry if its the wrong place.

I got a call from one of my friends that said in todays (Fri Feb 17th) Asbury Park Press Monmouth County New Jersey edition classifieds section of the Newspaper under antique autos a 69 Bladwin Nova was listed for sale. Said original 427 needs restoration has docs 25,000 obo. I will not be home until Sat to see the add myself but if anyone is interested I would check it out. It's outside my price range and I already have one of my dream cars so go for it.

He sold it for 25k over the asking price and is no longer answering the phone as a result. Try reading the threads on this over at yenko.net. They are going a bit over the top there about it. In the end I am sorry that I even posted it there as well. I was hoping to mayby help one of the true enthusiasts find their dream car. Looks more like I have started a small scale war instead.

Unless you have a "ton" of money, you will have a hard time trying to buy your dream car. GREED has taken over and I doubt if anything can be done about it...........

Yes, indeed, the world of classic cars has gotten crazy to say the least.

I agree that is why I went on a little tirade over ta Yenko.net with this response-

"Should I ever find a car for sale like this again I will be sure NOT to post it. The entire purpose for posting it here was to try and help bring to light a potential piece of automotive history that should be shared with all the enthusiasts who will appreciate it. I personally have seen BM Corvettes, Camaros, etc. but never a Nova but I would like to and I would like to know the history behind it. Who better to do this than the people here who are supposed to be experts on them?

Instead this has turned into a matter of prestige and money between many of you, in short the worst parts of this hobby. In the end the car real or not will come to light but the true cost will not be who offered the most cash it will be friendships that have lasted for years falling by the wayside as people squabble over money, metal and bragging rights.

In short I think that some of you should ask yourself what is more important, the financial gains you can make and the bragging rights you will have bought for cash or the true history of these cars and the friendships that this hobby helps to foster between so many of us.

For those of you who are here like me for the pleasure that this hobby usually brings most of us I am sorry for this tirade, for the rest who are here for the money and prestige THINK ABOUT IT. "

Sadly those of us who love the cars and friendships that they have helped us make are still around but greed is making our numbers dwindle.

Mike, it looks like you found out the hard way! Anytime you post a car like this for sale, all it does is start a "feeding frenzy". I personaly don't care if people buys cars and sell them for profit or just buy them to keep them. It is not going to change anything. A certain few are going to be jealous no matter what you do! A prime example is is the thread they were talking about on the "Yenko Camaro" a couple of year ago, go back and archive it. You will get a real laugh out of that one!!!!!!

I didn't get a chance to read through all of the threads over at Yenko.net but it sure looks like a feeding frenzy. I think it's cool that you posted it up, especially since it's in NJ. You never know what's hidden around here :D

This is stirring up a lot of controversy on both sites. Looks like it was a scam the whole time!!!!

I smelled scam from the very beginning, probably some idiot with a personal axe to grind against some members of one of the supercar forums. I really feel sorry for the guy who drove across the country to get the car, but hey, it's just like winning the lottery, you can't win if you don't play. Lesson learned for all involved I'm sure, I just hope this stunt doesn't get recreated here or on another car site. I hate to say it, but it's almost certain to happen again, especially when there is big $$$$$$$$ and egos involved............ What has happened to our poor hobby? God help us all........

it's a major scam !!! the same guy had a 67 427 six pk vette posted last month . basicly the same details , with documentation ect. I cought him on a saterday morning , he agreed to meet me ,but with stipulations i couldn't bring anyone . when i arived to the meeting piont , the garage where the car was ,was not there . he then called me and told me that he was going to pick me up and take me to the car . I then told him , Nahh i'll follow you , i had a friend on stand by for back up that he didn't know of . anyway he was like ok i'll be there in one minute . At this piont i knew something was not right even though i had that feeling all along . As it was he never showed up and never answered the phone either . The sad thing is i couldn't even report this to the police because no crime was done yet , but i had a feeling it was a drop off some where isolated and sickem up robbery .
