How do the 1/4 skins compare to the 80% 1/4's around the rear tailpan? does anyone have a pic of the difference? I am replacing my 1/4 and bought a skin, but I need to go all the way back to where the tailpan and the 1/4 meet. It appears that the skin needs lots of shaping to make it look right back there, does the 80% make this job easier? or does it also need shaping as well?
thanks for the help

80% goes in into trunk jamb seam in rear & all the way to meet tail pan in rear
Goes into doorjamb in front

unless they have made major changes the 80% 1/4's are no good out of the box they can be made good but it will take a lot of fancy cutting and trimming , the skin's work great but again they will need a little trimming ,

For my money, there is no better way to do it than to replace the entire quarter.

I agree with gambitt. my 68 has 80% on it and were they were welded on top, the high dollar paint is starting to bubble up and I have seen several doing the same thing .go with the full 1/4s.thanks jeff

Thanks for the feedback and the link to your project Brian. So those are the 80% 1/4's that you are using? did they take alot of modification to fit?
Not sure yet whether to do skins, 80%, or Full?
thanks guys

I asked the same question. Do a search and you'll find the thread. General consensus was full quarters. The 80's on my car are trashed. I'm replacing them with full ones.

There was alot of fitting need to be done with 80% .I dont understand the guys post above that says 80% caused paint bubbling that would be from paint prep the seam is just a little bit longer than factory full 1/4 seam. I would say the problems I had were quality issues on panels .I dont know if full 1/4 is higher quality panel. I have seen it talked about on here before the aftermarket panels have many quality problems that can cause headaches when mounting

I have a repo qtr and a gm qtr on my car. The repo seems to fit just fine. The only thing I see is that it is a little thinner, but once it is on the car no one will ever know. My car had an 80% on it for years and it had the above problems mentioned...I'm not saying an 80 can't be put on right and last, but it is much easier, and probably more cost effective in the long run to just use a full qtr where you will only have one seam that actually has to have filler...on the sail panel...and this is a very short and a shallow place for filler...like it needs to be.
