Im trying to install my rear window interior headliner trim and can not get the aftermarkt trim to fit in the channel.I was wondering if the window needs to be removed to get the trim to fit.Do all the aftermarket suppliers fit the same or does one fit better than the other?
thanks,Daryl

You should be able to install it with the window in. If it was the original trim piece, that is. Sometimes when the rear window gets installed, the buytl sealler or whatever they used gets smashed down and squishes out, thus getting in the way of where this trim piece goes.

When I took the trim out when I was taking the car apart the moldings were all dry rotted.I bought new pieces from classic and they just dont seem to fit in the channel. If there is a different brand that works that would be great.

Soak the new moldings in a tub of steamy HOT water for 10-15 minutes. This will make them pliable.

Put headliner in a yr ago
One of the few things I did not do myself, after consultation with other guys who have been thru the experience.
It is too easy to screw up, get wrinkles, and not have a perfect job in 6 months time
The local upholster guy I used was a the same guy who 'fixed' a balls home job. Yes It can be done with glass in but NOT reconmended...From memory Classic also say this.
We pulled the glass.
The mouldings get a bit bent twisted when removed and tend to be loose when refitting...mine are the originals ('69)
I left then in the summer sun for a few hrs, then with a rubber mallet, slowly and carefully tapped them on a flat surface...straghtening and closing up. Started at the middle worked out, going over 4 or 5 times bit at a time.
I then cleaned/primed and re spayed colour.
Refitting when like text book, and are now like brand new.
Same procedure for front and door trims.
