: Luggage rack, where to mount

I just got delivery of my not-cheap 68 luggage rack from ebay. Now, who can tell me where to mount it, exact measures from edge of trunk lid, front or rear?

When I hold it over the trunk lid where I think it looks best, right rear foot is right in the Camaro by Chevrolet, should that be moved?

Looking in the 68 Camaro brochure, the front feet are right at the front edge of the trunk lid. That clears the Camaro by Chevrolet, but if I do that, the luggage rack will hit the vinyl top when I open the lid. Could be fixed of course, a stopper on the lid hinges, but I want to keep original.

Any help will be appreciated.

It was never factory mounted so I'd imagine every dealer mechanic did it just a bit different. I would mount it so it's centered as much as possible and doesn't interfere with opening the trunk. Maybe there is something in the AIM on mounting it. Maybe someone has a templet but my guess is there isn't too much published on correct positioning...

DjD, first of all, White Wonder is beautyful!

What's AIM?

The dealer must have had a template though?

Hey,
I have an NOS luggage rack. The instructions read like stereo instructions and it is not a template. The instructions show it being installed on a Camaro without a spoiler and it appears the foot would come very close to the emblem as it is about 1/4" away from the rear trunk lip. But...the one I have is a 69.

1/4" from the trunk lip, the foot of the rack? That would mean it would almost become the first point to hit a wall going backwards, should it really "hang" out back like that? That would of course solve the interference issue with the vinyl roof when open.

Thanks

Why would you want to get so close to a wall anyway? :D

Why would you want to carry luggage outside of your car?
