Electrician here most days, with an obscure tendency to go to subfloor repair on others. Then there's the weekend garage tinkerer, but then that's never work but tends to be expensive playtime.

I'm a Retired Automation Engineer / PLC programmer. Now I am the sole "IT guy" for a PSAP (Public Safety Answering Point). We take 911 calls for 4 cities and dispatch for 7 agencies. It's kind of a fun job, the only drawback is that we have to be operational 24/7. The best part is that most of the time I only need to be in the office 3 days a week.

I am a territory manager for Stihl Power Tools (chainsaws, brushcutters, blowers). My territory covers southern WV, southeastern Ky, and southeastern Ohio. Aside from getting to play with cool powertools all day, my travels enable me to find musclecars in the most unlikely places.

I work for Michigan State University as an Agricultural Extension Agent, stationed in Traverse City Michigan. I serve farmers in the northern half of the lower peninsula of the state, especially with growing and processing wine grapes. There are great fringe benefits, but the pay level keeps the restoration process at a crawl. I must also give credit to my wife, because without her paycheck the car would have had to been sold long ago. She is a registered nurse, working at our local hospital.

Two jobs here, first the one that pays the bills.
I am a Head Operator on 4 hydro-treating process units at an oil refinery, the same company that provides all the gas to Nascar. One of the units pre-treats streams that will eventually be converted to high octane gas. The other three all process various streams from crude distillation to make finished diesel fuel. Upon completion of the latest upgrades we will process approx 4.2 million gallons a day of diesel from my area. As Head Operator I lead a crew of 4 to 6 other operators, these guys/gals handle all aspects of day-to-day needs to keep our huge array of pumps, fans, heaters and instruments humming along happily to avoid upsets or emergencies. I have been on the job, boiling dinosaurs for 23 years.
Job #2 doesn't pay at all but is very rewarding.
I am Deputy Chief of a suburban all Volunteer Fire Dept. This involves wearing the white helmet and doing a lot of pointing and issueing orders at emergency scenes. This more obvious aspect is by far the least time consuming part of the job. My main duty involves ensuring that our 30-some volunteer members are all proficient in all the skills required for any emergency we are called to. We also perform most of our own maintenance on the apparatus, brakes, running gear, pumps, electrical nightmares and lube/fluid changes. As well as Station maintenance duties. I am also responsible for all driver training on all apparatus, again driving is the easy part (keeping them whoa'd a bit behind the wheel of these 46,000lb hotrods takes some doing......). The operation of all the apparatus functions and tools is the prime responsibility of the driver and that takes the most time to train up on. I also chair the apparatus replacement committee, we are tasked with the design and purchase of all new vehicles. All of which are custom made to meet our needs for various functions in our response areas. Currently finalizing shipping details on a new 18' high performance Rescue Boat and starting the process for design of a new Rescue Pumper and rehab of a '97 GMC 1ton utility truck. It's always something.....We operate 2 class A Pumpers one also outfited with rescue tools, an F-550 Mini-Pumper/Brush, GMC K3500 Light Rescue utility, Chevy Suburban, 28' enclosed Collapse/Shoring Technical Rescue trailer and a 3 boat Marine Rescue unit. We respond to all fires/alarms and vehicle rescues in our Twp, Medical calls in our local area, Marine Rescue and Technical Rescues Countywide. Our average total annual activity is approx 650-750 responses. Have a look http://lennifire.com/
It's always a challenge to find enough time to keep the family happy and the other bases covered.

Shooter, moving trees is a license to print money. my brother had a flat rate to a point and then added money as the tree being moved become larger around. he ended up having one that was big enough to need a semi to haul it. easy money!
