Howdy, back with more questions trying to date everything on my new Camaro. 1969 RS/SS- build date 4th week Nov. '68
I'm trying to date the glass and all the windows, side and rear are LOF w/ matching dates sandblasted in that look OK to me.
The windsheild is PPG w/ a black stamp that I can't find any date code info on.
Can I assume the windsheild has been replaced ? I read on some post here that most Camaro glass was LOF, but some early '69's had PPG or a mix.

Original Glass had a 2 letter date code that was used.

First Letter was Month made
Second letter was Year made.

N= January
X= February
L= March
G= April
J= May
I= June
U= July
T= August
A= September
Y= October
C= November
V= December

A= 1966
Z= 1967
X= 1968
V= 1969
T= 1970

My glass is coded YX for October 1968 on my 11B built 69.

Jonsey,
I understand the date codes for the LOF glass are per the table you posted.My windows from LOF are coded "CX" - or my car's build da frectNov. 68,corte.
It seems PPG used a different coding system, t

Sorry, last post didn't read right-
Anyway the LOF glass is fine,just trying to decode the PPG windsheild, which uses a different date code system.Also trying to find out if they would have mixed LOF and PPG glass at the factory.
Thanks
Billy

I think your windshield was replaced at some point in the car's history. Of all the glass not to be original, that's the one that is of least concern, because it's the most common (and expected) on just about any vehicle.

Your windshield has been replaced if it is PPG. Thats a pretty common replacement. If it was original it would have the LOF glass in it.

Well reading the glass facts again that Kurt posted (thanks) I can tell it's for sure replaced because it has the PPG trademarks of "Sunshade,Duplate & Solex"
