I'm looking for a 1967 2 speed powerglide transmission for my 1967 Camaro. Is there a stamped code or a tag with a code on one of these transmissions? And if so, what would the code be? Do these transmissions come with short & long extention housings? And if so, which one would a '67 camaro use. I was told some powerglides came "air cooled with no transmission to radiator cooling lines." Is this true? I have a powerglide and was told it came out of a 1965 Pontiac, it has radiator lines. Will this transmission fit my '67 Camaro?

Dave, most likeky a 2-speed out of a 65 Pontiac (Tempest) would be a Super Turbine 300, not a Powerglide, and wont bolt to a Chevy engine. A Powerglide for a 67 Camaro would have an overall length the same as a common 3 speed or 4 speed Chevy transmission. Some 'glides were air cooled, they had holes cut or cast in the bellhousing area. They came behind 4 cylinder and low horsepower 6 cylinder engines. Some of them were manual shift, think they were called "Torque Drive" and had no automatic 1-2 upshift.
Hi Jonn: I've never hear of a Super Tubine 300 before, a little before my time. but the transmission I have came bolted to a 283. I was told it's a 1965 283, the valve cover has a sticker that says Pontiac 283. I have not been any to find the suffix code on this motor, just a number and no letters stamped on the pad next to the pass. side of the water pump ( I don't have this number with me). but I did check the
block casing number #3849852 '57 to' 66 283
heads # 3877652 '60 to '67 283/327 60cc "made in canada"
intake # 3877652 1965 283/327 2 barrel iron ABCK & TRK
OK now, was there a Pontiac 283 or would this be a chev motor in a Pontiac?
Also is there a number on the transmission that would identify the transmission as being powerglide or Super Tubine?

Maybe a Canadian Pontiac 283?? They did get Chevy engines.
I have found some info on the powerglide at www.camaros.org/trans.shtml It says there is a number on the pass. side of the transmission pan.
eg: C9D14N
C= powerglide (Cleveland)....... T= powerglide (Toledo)
9= 1969
D= april
14= day (april14)
N= night shift
I'll check my transmission and see if I have a number on the trans pan.
I do believe you could get a chev motor in a Pontiac, I once owned a Buick that came with a Olds motor.
