Trial fitted my deck lid today.Fits well at front corners & radius match well. The problem is it sits about 3/16" lower than the upper rear body panel for about 30" but the corners fit well to the qtr. panels Hope I explained this well enough.Any suggestions?

You will need a very thin fender shim for both sides and sandwich them on the back bolts.

Stone,
If I understand your problem (I'm not positive that I do), you are saying that the middle of your deck lid, above the gas filler and lock cylinder, if your car is a 1st Gen., sits lower than the corners of the deck lid where it meets the 1/4 panels, forming somewhat of a U shape across the back end of the deck lid. If that is the case and it's as bad as you say, I would want the deck lid exchanged from where I bought it.
There are some old sheet metal forming methods that might help if absolutely no other parts are available, but in your case that shouldn't have to be the solution. Send the deck lid back if my description of your problem is correct.

Oops! Sorry, I just re-read your post. Upper rear body panel. Duh!
Pretty much the same answer, though.
Short of sending it back, you can do the following:
Get two (2) sawhorses, two (2) large towels, a 8" long piece of 2"X4" and a 3 pound hammer.
Place the folded towels on the top rails of the sawhorses. Lay the deck lid upside down on the towels with each side of the deck lid overhanging the sawhorses about 6". Place the 2X4 in the middle of the deck lid underbrace at the closest point to the deck lid edge as you can and rap it with the 3 pound hammer. Hard. Maybe 3-4 times, checking the fit as you do.
The problem with this method is sometimes the deck lid skin will break away from the underbrace on a repro deck lid and then you have another problem.
If it's possible, send it back.

Get A New One! That thing is never going to fit right from the sound of your description. It is a reject, or a very poor reproduction of an original. This is pretty common in the world of aftermarket body parts. Save yourself some frustration, return it and get a better one.
Just my .o2 . I have been doing auto body repair & restoration for 20 years.

Let me get this straight, is the upper rear body panel the one between the rear window and the trunk? If that is what you are talking about then the problem your seeing is not uncommon. Take a 8"-12" 2X4 lay it flat in the middle of the trunk jam and pull the trunk lid down on it which will crest the middle of the trunk and tweak the body panel down. Do it lightly and progress harder to get the results you want. It doesn't pay to send it back because the next one could fit worse in a different area. You can also stick that 2X4 in between the trunk hinge and that body panel and lift the trunk open to change the gap the other way. These are not "hacker" methods, this is done all the time with trunk lids. I had to do this to my 69 with a new GM decklid. Have fun!

Which repro did you get?

The only good one on the market is the one from Goodmark. The only problem with it is that it was 1/8 of an inch narrower (side to side) than my original trunk lid. Otherwise, the fit was good. I bought a second lid to see if the first was defective, and the second one fit identical to the first.
