 If I wanted cragar ss 15" wheels 7's in the front and 8's in the rear. What tire size and backspacing must I have not to have issues of clearance? Would it be a problem to have 8's all the way around? Also the same questions if I wanted 17" wheels. What I have is a 69 camaro with discs up front and drums in the rear with mono rear leaf springs. :hurray:

Go to www.carcraft.com. Click on Technical Articles. Go to page 8. There is an article there...."Biggest Meats for your Muscle Car". They fitted and listed the biggest wheel and tire combos for Chevelles, Camaros, and others in 15" thru 18".

Beware...If you have disc brakes your stock caliper will actually hit the inside of the center! I hear Cragar makes a disc brake SS, but they did not return my numerous e-mails! I was so angry because if I knew I could have gotten a disc brake rim I would have. So, I had to shim the wheels nearly 3/8" ! This put my tire out further and they then rubbed. By the way, this was on my '67 Camaro rs with fact. front disc brakes. I had 15 x 7's all around with the standard 4 1/4 bs. Dan

I have 15x7's on the front of my 67 with disc brakes with no problems rubbing on the caliper. Mine are 4-1/8 back-spacing. Maybe that makes a difference?
I've got 235-60-15's on the front & get a little tire rubbing on the bottom rear fender bolt on turns.

Interesting...That your '68 worked with the SS. The second I mounted the SS rim to the hub, I knew we had a problem. My caliper hit the inner spokes by a good 1/8". Is the '68 caliper a little less protrusive? The '69 may not have a problem after all. Maybe his local tire shop will mount up a Cragar for a test fit. I had American Torq-Thrust D's on my '67 with no problem because the spokes dish out. Cleared the caliper easily. Dan

Don't forget those pretty Cragars come in 16 & 17" too now, so you can have your cake and eat it too!
