Main body# 3925660 Tail shaft# GM3846429 Thanks, Jim Straight-line-69 Feb 27th, 06, 08:47 PM Big Jim,..she's a mut but she'll fetch. The maincase is from a 69 Chevy and the tailhousing is from a 64 or early 65. What's the number on the side cover? RamAirDave Feb 27th, 06, 08:47 PM Dont have any of my info handy, so I cant be of much help. The 660 was used in 69 camaros, and Im guessing other models (?). Dont recognize the 6429 off the top of my head, but someone else will know. Look for a stamping in the body of the trans. Should start with a P and end in A, B, or C. Might also find a VIN stamp also. Those would help a lot. dave cj7ripper Feb 27th, 06, 08:59 PM The cover # is GM3884685 Here is the other # P9H18A Thanks, Jim RamAirDave Feb 27th, 06, 09:09 PM June 18, 1969 M20 dave Amptech Feb 27th, 06, 09:15 PM RamAirDave what would the A B and C codes denote? I have a wierd one that just has 824B7921 on the mounting ear, and can't figure it out for beans.. On the bright side, I know the trans was made in August 1963 :) cj7ripper Feb 27th, 06, 09:51 PM Here is the next question. This tranny was rebuilt 2 years ago and never used, is it worth $550.00 being a mutt??? Jim RamAirDave Feb 28th, 06, 12:27 AM Amptech: The stamped code, that starts with P and ends in A, B, or C mean: A=M20 B=M21 C=M22 As far as your code, I cant help you out. That is several years earlier than my knowledge. Jim: A good muncie should be worth that. Since its a "mutt", it wont be worth as much to the guys looking for #s transmissions. If it was rebuilt by someone that knows their way around a muncie, it should be good for that amount. dave cj7ripper Feb 28th, 06, 10:49 AM Thanks for all your info!!! Jim Gambitt Feb 28th, 06, 11:15 AM Funny thing...I own a mutt just like that:) I am currently looking for the correct tail. Must have been a common occurrence to replace the tail for some reason. Gambitt crashent Mar 1st, 06, 02:52 PM Jim, The Muncie your looking at could be from a Pontiac A-body(GTO, Lemans, Tempest) they used the driver side speedo tail housing thru the 1970 model year... One of my customers just dropped of the original Muncie from his 1970 Judge for a rebuild,,, driver side speedo.... If you post the VIN from this trans that will tell what its from... Hope this helps... Crash |
