Hello all, I am new to this era of cars. I want to take off my 4 drum brakes and put on Disc. Right now its all manual brakes, but I want it to be power. I dont want a huge master cyl either. I am thinking either Baer or Wilwood. This car is on stock spindles too, but I want to lower it soon as well, will there be a problem with this later if I put in drop spindles? I know that I will need to get bigger rims as well, not a big deal. What kits should I look at on these. Thanks for the help in advance.

some brake kits use your drum brake spindles (such as baer), so thats ok

do not get drop spindles, they dont help anything, just get drop springs and use the stock spindles

look at baer or do a search here for other disc brake swaps that would use basicly the same pieces, you could also put it all together yourself, and save a lot of money

and larger rims can bolt right on, just make sure you get the right back spacing

What is the right wheel size for this car. Thanks.....also, I can get the parts at a discounted cost, so a kit doesnt bother me.

I swapped out 4-drums for disks with a 9" power booster.
12" rotors and dual piston calipers, w/standard spindles. (dual prop value).
The Kit from Stainless Steel Brakes Corp was expensive, ($2100) (http://www.ssbrakes.com/products/search/), but very complete and very easy to assemble, 3 hours by myself.

I agree with 400bird,
If I did it again, I'd save $$ buying the parts, not the kit.
I've seen articles on using stock disk kits from your local GM dealer or local donor resting place, (junkyard).
(I think it said, '68-'80 were the same and only $250/wheel..)

Right wheel?? 14x7 is original..
Cragars are traditional..
I bought 16x8 AR Hopsters
Many people like bigger wheels, 17", 18"..
IMHO, I think 19" & 20" look funny without a pretty big rotor to fill the void..

Right is what you like..
