: Possible Tag problem if it has an X22 on the tag...

If the trim tag really has an X22 on it, I think there is a problem with it (11C build date). There aren't any legible trim tag or stamps pics in the ebay add to confirm, so posted for the record.

I think someone found a Nov 69 Built car and removed the tag and placed it on a Nov 68 built car. Too early for X codes since the VIN is a Nov 68 build time-frame. Would like to see a pic of the Engine stamps and the Cowl tag since all i saw was one you could not make out from the front of the car. Ask him where the Partial VIN is stamped on the Engine, on the pad or down by the oil filter? says on the engine pad but a nice clear pic of the stamping would be nice

yeah, looks like they made up a few marks, but a lot of it is pretty accurate according to the research we did back in the day with low mileage cars. lot of guys try to make it look like a Ford or mopar underneath, which look like clown cars with marks everywhere.

I am guessing it is a fake tag, NOT one from a Nov 69 car. There is a clue availble in the listing, even though no pic of the tag.

I have a picture of the tag, and I would not call it a fake. The picture I have is kind of on the small side, so I can't tell for sure at this point but it looks more real than fake. I've had it since June of 2004 so it's been that way for at least 18 months. If it is a fake its a really good one.

Is it just the lighting or is the drivers side fender a different shade or red then the rest of the car?

shouldn't the tail panel of a SS396 be blacked out??

That's some color combination, interesting.

The build date matches the VIN #, but I guess he didn't get the memo about no x codes during 11C.

Mark,

Obvisouly this is an interesting comment. Do you believe the tag is original to the car? If so, is it some sort of anomily, or? Any hints without giving too much away would help reduce the suspense.

My '69 RS/SS has a build date of 11 D
VIN- 550xxx
Body-181128
Engine stamp- T1114HB

So like Wild Billy T said date and #'s match. But mine's a week later and no X code.

Don't know what the story is, the picture I have of the tag is to small to give it a good review, but what I can see doesn't look like the vast majority of the repros that are out there.

Well, I stand corrected, and agree with Mark that the tag sure looks like an original. However, in my defense, there is discrepency between the tag and the listing.

Convinced the tag is not original to that car. Swapped off a Nov 69 built car.

Mark, from the info you gathered 18 months ago, was it a matching number motor at that time?

There is no 11C of 69 built cars. Last production week during the 69 model year was 11A. Tag may look like 102623 but it is 182623 and fits right into the the 11C of 68 time period, although the body numbers during that time frame are pretty hinky.

I don't have any other info on the car, but I do rember it being up for sale before and it was a big block the last time I saw it. Kurt may have recorded engine data if it was posted previously.

My car is an 11C build with a BDY 187066 and VIN 547xxx and no X code on mine either.

My car is actually the same exact color combo as this one, except I have standard interior. I had to do a double take. No bumperettes though.

My 69 RS/SS L-78 also has VIN 547xxx with a 11D build date.. Its also Garnet red/black vinly-blk std int...

Is it coincidence that there so many garnetred camaros during this time or did chevy plan it this way?
