I finally got my new 16 x 8 rims mounted last week and I have a couple of questions. In the fromt I went with a 245/50 (26" tall) tire and in the rear I went with a 255/50 MT Street radial. I took off a 255/60 (27" tall) tire so I know I can fit taller but at the time MT Street Radial tire was not available. Now after getting them mounted and on the car, Mt just came out with a taller tire in 255/60. I am currently running a 4:10 gear. Should I buy the taller tires and keep the gear or just pay to have 3:73's installed and keep what I got? Either way the price is about the same.
Now, the height question. If I keep the current setup, my front measures 27.5" from the ground to the wheel well lip and the back measures 27.25" from the ground to the wheel well lip. If I go with the 255/60- tire that measures 27.1" tall I will gain .5" in height in the rear making the rear 27.75" tall. I am running the Hotchkis drop springs in the rear but not the front. I have a noticable gap in the front between the tire and the wheel well, not in the back. Should I just lower the front with the Hotchkis springs? Right now from hub to wheel well the front is 15.5" and the back is 15". What does a car with the Hotchkis setup measure from the hub to wheel well??
Sorry so long, any suggestions on what to do? I have no problem changes gears or buying the taller tires, i just don't want to loos e to much performance.
Thanks, Erik
