Hey all, since no one has info on "inner upper cowl panels" I ask you this, I purchaced a complete floor pan and noticed that there is no "seat pans" (for the lack of a better discription) like the old floor. I'v tryed to remove the old ones but it has been a real pain in the arz. Any takers on this one? I figure worst case I cut the whole thing out and grind the remaining material off the bottom. (Probably just answered my oun question) graemlins/clonk.gif

I believe that Rick’s first gen has them. The originals have about a hundred spot welds in them it seems. But I always do like you said cut the as much off as I can and grind all the welds from the backside.

Pretty much answered your own questoin. Are you using a air chisle? It should just tear right off with a air chisle.

Your inner upper cowlpanel question. If its really bad and you have a lot of dough and time and space and your trying to build a concorse car then replace. But for the most part you just need to cut and patch any rot. straight forward stuff.

Good Luck,

Brad

What I did was, drill all spot welds with a 5/16" drill bit, then removed and reinstall the new floor, then you have holes to weld up where the spot welds were. If you're good, no one will be able to tell that you drilled it out. All the welds should be flush. Just my 2 cents worth.

Another good reason to drill out the welds is that you have a mark on the rocker of exactly where the seat brace was placed originally!

i drilled out my spot welds too. i used the hole-saw type of spot weld cutter. this leaves a hole in the first panel and a raised bump on the second panel. i then cut the old floor below these bumps on both the tunnel side and the rocker panel side. cleaned up the seat pans and rewelded them to the new floor after fitting them so the holes and bumps lined back up with the new floor attached to the seat pan. weld inside where the holes and bumps are and grind flat. buff sand and no trace whatsoever of any welds.
