clwilcox33 Mar 3rd, 06, 01:02 PM No matter what shape a cowl tag is in, you shouldn't be taking them off.
RUSTY69 Mar 3rd, 06, 01:06 PM No matter what shape a cowl tag is in, you shouldn't be taking them off.even if hes changing the lower cowl?
RUSTY69 Mar 3rd, 06, 01:51 PM and the guys said it had a 396 in it, and my buddy noticed it had an off set tranny brace?..... and whats a v v code mean on a 68? and was houndstooth exclusive to anything?
COPO9737 Mar 3rd, 06, 02:15 PM VV is dark green, top and bottom
RUSTY69 Mar 3rd, 06, 02:19 PM 749 - Black Houndstooth buckets
V - Sequoia Green
im not trying to suggest it is an ss, im trying to prove what the guy told my buddy..and its not looking good... i cant seem to pin point much...
RUSTY69 Mar 3rd, 06, 02:20 PM VV is dark green, top and bottomi wasnt positive on why it would be a double v...thanx though i was pretty sure it ment that..but wasnt sure
Eric Kammerer Mar 3rd, 06, 02:25 PM Okay, here you go.
I see the hole in the firewall for the RS vacuum lines (to driver side of brake hole), and with the backup light cutouts, it was at least an RS.
It was also a 4-speed Muncie car (speedo cable hole to right (driver side) of distributor ). An offset tranny crossmember (angled hole on one side of the underside), if original to the car, means it was a BB. If it was a BB (396), it was an SS.
VV is just the color code, Sequoia Green top and bottom.
No, houndstooth custom interior wasn't exclusive to either RS or SS.
Can't tell anything other than color, interior, and production date from a 68 tag.
So again, could be an RS/SS, looks like it was a nice car at one point, but it doesn't matter much now. Maybe to someone who wants the "bones" of an SS/RS.
big mike Mar 3rd, 06, 02:26 PM Is there a sticker on the inside of the glove box door? If so, what size tires did it come with?

lol...this guy is a GENIUS...and a master with a mig welder..plus a dynocorn and goodmark distributor...im going to strip it down for him, and he's going to have it dipped...and he'll install ALL new panels....if it is infact an ss/rs, he wont be selling it, he'll restore it to factory condition....im tellin you, you guys will be AMAZID when you see his jig....thanks for the info eric...
RUSTY69 Mar 3rd, 06, 02:32 PM Is there a sticker on the inside of the glove box door? If so, what size tires did it come with?good question, ill check tomarrow..
RUSTY69 Mar 8th, 06, 06:50 AM does anybody have a pic of the ss tire instructions stuck on the inside of the clove box door?
TClovis Mar 8th, 06, 01:19 PM Rick's First Generation catalog has a pic of one with the part number listed at the bottom of the sticker.
RUSTY69 Mar 10th, 06, 01:27 PM i found the tire sticker, half of it was on the glove box, and the other half was sitting on the floor under the disconected seat....is there anything i should look for on it? ...so givin the holes in the firewall "muncie"and the guy saying it had a 396 in it, and the offset brace under the floor, and the multi leaf, would you all agree it was an ss?
big mike Mar 10th, 06, 07:12 PM Tire size is what you are looking for on the sticker. What is the tire size on the sticker?
RUSTY69 Mar 10th, 06, 07:51 PM i wanna say f70 - 14, but i need to double check, i was going to bring it home and scan it.
big mike Mar 10th, 06, 08:00 PM F70x14 would be correct for SS. Post a picture if you get a chance. Mike
RUSTY69 Mar 10th, 06, 08:05 PM will do,....this kinda sux, talked to tony ,told him chances are it was a real ss/rs, and i think he will be selling it soon as its re-paneld,....i would have loved to see him restore it..
big mike Mar 10th, 06, 08:13 PM I've got a 16 year old nephew in So-Cal. Let me know if the car is for sale. Mike
