I just wanted to check with you guys and see if I'm on the right path. The original radiator support for the 68 is in fair shape (lots of surface rust)and of course the mounting bracket under the battery is beyond repair. Are the brackets interchangeble from left to right? If so, I think I will see if I can find a good bracket off a junk car...Firebird or Nova and weld it on?
Now where did I leave my snake boots. smile.gif

If you are interested in new,The Parts Place Inc.Elbun Il. have new gm core supports, but they are expensive and Rick's first gen has a repro for around $90.00,I used the repro on my 69 camaro and it fit like a glove and is a good piece!

What bracket are you referring to? The rad support doesn't have a bracket under the battery. The battery tray bolts to the rad support and right inner fender. Is the fender rusted? Are you referring to the area around the rubber bushing? Battery trays can be had rather cheap ($15 dollars or so with the battery clamp). If the bushing area is rotted or inner fender I wouldn't be afraid to attempt a metal repair. The factory work isn't all that clean, and you could easily hide a patch.

Dave,
Yes, I was talking about the bracket that bolts the support to the subframe via the rubber mount. I thought I had read somewhere that the brackets are the same on both sides. Normally the one uder the battery tray is shot. I was thinking about finding a support that has a good drivers side bracket, remove it, and use it to replace the passenger side and keep my original support.
Thanks
