I have a standard 67 speedometer/fuel gauge cluster. I plan to install a console with guage pod, therefore don't need a fuel gauge in the dash. I would like to install a reproduction tachometer in its place. My first question is will the tachometer fit in the standard instrument housing? Second, do I need to change the circuit board and does anyone make an aftermarket one? Finding an original is probably tough. I see that Rick's sells the circuit board for a non-tach application but I don't see one for a tach. I plan to buy a new under-dash wiring harness and want to buy one for a tach/console guage pod application if I can get this tachometer issue worked out.

In 67, the same circuit board was used for both the tach and thge fuel guage. You just need to bolt in the tach and do a little rewiring under the dash and out to the coil. 67 optional guages hung from the center of the dash, above the console (or maybe bolted to the top front of the console?) and are very different than the 68-69 setup.

Autometer 5 inch gauges fit right in. I did this on my 68. Do a search and you should find plenty info. I did away with the circuit board completely.
