I'm finally installing the interior :) :) I now see what all the noise was about concerning the aftermarket dash pads. They are terrible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! At least the one I got from Classic is. The fit is not that bad but where the screws go along the bottom is real bad. Why didn't they take the time to mold that area like the originals. If my original didn't have a 6" split I would consider using it. Any ideas on how to make that bottom connection. Screws through that rubber (what a joke) will hold nothing. The car is awesome and I'm the only one that will probaly ever look under there but I KNOW it sucks! Sorry , just venting a little. Okay, I feel better now.

...the exact reason I stayed with my original with a very minor crack. I'm surprised someone hasn't come out with a better repro yet, ...since that is one of those repro parts that is total junk. Keep your eyes on ebay for a good used one.
I also believe there is a company out there that recovers originals, ...don't know the name though nor do I have any feel for the quality. Maybe others could pipe in...

Send it back.Send your original to Just Dashes for restoration. I think its about $300.

Was this the more expensive $230 repro with the metal frame or the $160 one with with a metal strip at the top that goes into the dash?

I'd go with Just Dashes in CA. They rebuild the foam core and vacuum-seal a new vinyl skin.

I had some lady I used to know that did auto upholstry just recover the dash in my last 67 for like 75 bucks. I'd check around about getting your original recovered.

I'll give Just Dashes a call. Don't have to have it done right now but it would top off a very complete restoration. Thanks for the info!
