Hi Everyone,
I have a set of 492 Small Block Angle Plug heads for my engine build and was told that I will have a hard time finding headers that will fit good because of the angle plugs. Is this true? Here is my combo:
'69 Camaro
355 Small Block
492 Angle Plug Heads
Comp Cams Magnum 286H Cam
Edelbrock Performer RPM Intake
Holley 750 3310
Flowmaster American Thunder 2.5" Dual Muffler Exhaust Kit
Muncie M-21
3:73 Posi Rear End
I would like to use a low to mid priced header that will fit well and match my power combo. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for any help!!

I know one thing, the Dynomax ceramic coated headers I bought for my last car, which had the 492 angle plug heads, DID NOT FIT! Well, let me rephrase that. They did not fit well. The passenger side wasn't bad, but on the driver's side, I ended up using shorty plugs, and on one of them, I still had to put a huge dent in the 2nd header pipe to get it to work, and then had to use a spark plug heat resistant boot to boot!!! Surely somebody makes a header that fits, but I would say more of them don't that do, despite what the manufacturers say!

My engine started out as a ZZ3 350 crate motor. It has angle plug aluminim heads. I currently have Hooker Competition series (NOT Super Comps)headers on it. They have 1 5/8 primary tubes. The worst plug is #8. No interference problems anywhere.

Thanks for the responses. I am sure there are others out there that were in the same situation as me, what do you suggest? I need to order the headers soon and want to make sure I have the right ones. Thanks!!

I'm running Protopline angle plug heads and Hooker Comps with Autolite race plugs (AR132's) which are short like the shorty header plugs with no problems.

Peter,
All you have to do is have your speed shop look in the catalog. All of the major header manufacturers state in thier catalogs if the header will work with angle plug heads or not. The Hookers I had on both my Chevelle and my 67 Camaro race car actually worked better with the angle plug heads than they did with the straight. If your supplier cant look in the catalog for you, call the manufacturer.

I agree with Billk. I have angle plugs and Hooker Super Comps and no problems with plug removal.
I use a 5/8 plug socket with a hex at the top and a 3/4 wrench.

Thanks to all for the responses! I will check with the header manufacturer for applications, but I wanted to check with you guys first since some of you have been down this road before and had hands on experience. That is what makes this site so great!!
