I want to pull the rear seats out on my '69 to check for an X code.
How do I remove them ?
Thanx

Not sure what X code is under the rear seats, but to remove the bottom part of the seat you need to push back and down (toward the rear of the car). The front portion of the seat should then clear the brackets under it and you can lift the front portion up and pull the seat out. It usually takes quite a bit of effort to get the seat to move. Once this part is out there are some screws at the bottom that hold the upright part of the seat to the car.

when i first got my 69 i was 100% positive there was a build sheet under it just waiting for me to discover it..lol.. it was one heck of a project, with the rusted out floor, and the seat was basically rusted in place...i couldnt budge it one inch, so the seat was in bad shape so i figured id bust out the swasall, and what do you know....nothing under there but a bunch of pennys and a shatterd dream..lol

The seat bottom is latched into a floor catch, best way is to put your knee against the bottom edge of the seat bottom and push back at the same time lift with your fingers the bottom steel edge of the seat and it should lift out of the 'hooks' that are holding it.
The X code you "might" find would be on the verticle bracing behind the top portion of the seat when you remove that. Once the bottom is out, you can figure out the top part. :)

Thanx guys , I thought it just pulled out some way (no bolts) but I didn't want to tear anything up. I've seen a photo of where the "X" might be so I know where to look.I know if it's been painted it won't be there, or maybe not there at all, but it's worth a shot.Mine's an early build date '69 so no X on the cowl plate.
