View Full Version : Seat innerchangeabilty?
Tom Ashmead Mar 8th, 06, 01:32 PM I am putting together a 69 camaro that has been gutted.I am building a driver,& am not concerened with orignality.
I was wondering if other seats from 1st genneration camaros,or any other GM cars would bolt in with out drilling new mounting holes.I am looking for both front buckets & a rear seat as well.
-also- was the fold down back seat a rare option in GM cars,or is it a possabilty that some are still out there?
Thankyou for your time...Tom
400bird Mar 8th, 06, 05:18 PM 67-69 all use the same mounts, so they will bolt in
firebirds also use the same seats, so you could use them too
also i hear 4th gen seats bolt in with very minor mods
thedugan Mar 8th, 06, 06:04 PM To me the 69 seats are really the best of the years because they all have headrests
Tom Ashmead Mar 9th, 06, 12:09 PM Thanks guys.
If I can find a cheap set of 69 seats I'll go that route. But nothing is really cheap for a 69 any more.
Is the 67 & 68 back seat Innerchangeable as well?
sci-flyer Mar 10th, 06, 11:59 PM Back seats will the same, unless it is a fold down, then it would be '68 & '69.
If you have deluxe interior, then you will need the narrower upper cushion; same size as convertibles too. The longer rear is for standard interior / no 'vert.
X33D80 Mar 11th, 06, 05:36 AM The '69 Camaro deluxe rear seat is the same as the standard seat, unless it is a convertible. The '69 Camaro deluxe hardtop car didn't have the armrests that required the narrow seat.
clwilcox33 Mar 13th, 06, 10:57 PM Here's the breakdown of the narrow vs wide rear seats for 67-69.
For Camaros, 67 Deluxe interiors used the narrow seats and armrests in the rear on coupes. 68 and 69 didn't, unless it was a vert or a fold-down. Also, the bottom and top would both be narrow if the interior called for the narrow seats. You wouldn't have a wide bottom and narrow top seat.
67 Coupe Standard: Wide (no armrest)
67 Coupe Deluxe: Narrow (with armrests)
67 Fold-Down Rear Seat: Narrow (with armrests)
67 Convertible: Narrow (with armrests)
68/69 Coupe Standard: Wide (no armrest)
68/69 Coupe Deluxe: Wide (no armrest)
68/69 Fold-Down Rear Seat: Narrow (with armrests)
68/69 Convertible: Narrow (with armrests)

Gideon Apr 7th, 06, 09:45 AM When you say wide versus narrow, does that mean across years? I.e., could I use a 67 Deluxe frame in a 69 convertible since they are both "narrow" or are they narrow, and different widths?
Thank you for the info.
dawg Apr 7th, 06, 10:14 AM you can opt for aftermarket seats from summit etc.
they have some adjustment for different bolt patterns.
zdld17 Apr 7th, 06, 10:20 AM If you are going to get into seats, you might be able to compliment the set up with a console from a 99-02 camaro or bird... Some one posted a picture of the console and seats out of a 69 I believe,, Looks good.
I have seen some Recaro seats also...

1st gen front seats suck as being comfortable on cnrs, espec, the pasengers.
I am currently looking at putting mine into storage and replacing with Jappa (import) seats out of a 2 door or a small mazda king cab truck, that fold forward
