i just saw another seat post so a question poped in my head,...i have both front seats that came with my 69, their hard and cracking, are they worth alot?...and is it better to get brand new ones or have mine fixed?..i dont really mind getting rid of the originals, since 90% of the car will be all new...plus i can use the extra cash to go towards getting a rolling chassis..

No,..keep the seat frames,..they're selling for good cabbage on ebay for a reason,..plus, I don't believe they're being reproduced.

Remove the upholstery and foam (seat buns) and inspect the springs. If a few are broken, they can easily be replaced with a repair kit,..or if there's more damage/wear you can get a bucket seat spring (what you sit on,..about $75).

After the inspection/repair, remove any rust with a wire wheel,..paint with a rattle can that has a rust inhibitor (try Rustoleum Satin Black,..# 7777).

Then purchase some new buns ($169 for the pair at Rick's) and seat upholstery in your choice of color (another $169 for std), then take it all to a quality upholstery shop who should be able to assemble brand new-looking bucket seats for about $150-200 in labor.

That's around $500,..but figure more if your your headrests and seat-backs need replacing,..both are being repo'd.

Good luck!

When I did mine a few yrs back (upholstery was still mint) that is what I basically did..
If I was to do it again I would do the same.

I did exactly what straight-line-69 lists above. Only wish I converted my back seat to a fold-down-rear seat. Might still do it someday.

Good luck!hey thanx Straight-line, that sounds like a plan!!...my storage is jam packed with 68,69 parts so ill inspect the seats soon as i can get everything cleaned up, im going to keep everything true to my cowl tag,"except the vinyl top"..711/55...i think the frames are good, i had to unbolt em..and they still have the backs..
