Can anyone tell me where I can find some more documentation and pictures on headers that could be ordered back in 1967 for your Z/28. Apparently they came in the trunk and you or the dealer could install them.

In the "Camaro Restoration Guide 67-69" by Jason Scott, on pg. 137, it mentions that "tuned runner exhaust manifolds were furnished in the trunk for dealer or ownership installation". There are no pictures though. Has anyone ever saw what they look like or have a picture.

thanks for the info guys!

Does anyone have an options list sheet for the 67' Z/28 where it would have the headers as an option. Or did they come on all Z/28's, and if so is there a list with that on it.

There were 3 options: plenum air, headers, both.

Headers were way overpriced, few ordered.

Here is a picture that I found on Ricks First Generation website. http://www.firstgen.com/SilverZ8.jpg Its not that great, but you can see them in the top right hand corner.

Rick (owner of Rick's First Gen) has a set of NOS Z28 headers. Larry Christensen (Camaros Plus, 203-278-8536) made blueprints of these headers and is now offering exact duplicates for sale. They're pricey, over $1000/pr, but they're just like the real thing and the only game in town.

If you go to http://taperfresto.com/road_race_headers.html they have some reproduction headers as well.

I contacted Stahl and had a set made but they told me they were almost out of that style of flange and that was 3 years ago.

Is Larry Christensen making the OK Kustom style or the Thomas style? Were the Thomas style for a 67 car and the OK's for a 68?

Larry Christensen has available both the Thomas style (67) and the OK Style for a 68. The price for the OK is $1200 in bare steel. He will have them coated in black for an extra $200.00. The OK"s include an extra pair of round flanges for connection to the exhaust.

Wow, prices sure are different than in 1970 when I bought a set of Kustoms for 59 bucks. I live a mile from where they were originally made. The first ones they made were built in a small cement block building behind Supreme Donut Shop. i have some literature from back then on thier products. Gary"The Mad Pleater" Benway, who was a part owner of Kustom for a while, says he may have a couple sets of flanges left.

Does anyone know how close the Christensen OK Kustom repro's are to the originals?

Thanks,

Bill D

By the way the phone number listed above to contact Larry Christensen should have an area code of 303 not 203

L Christensen sent me pictures of the headers last year and they looked very nice  and identical to the originals. He used a set of original headers to have someone fabricate for him. They are pricey but depends on each person's wants. TA performance has not lately but used to sell the headers on ebay. He may get them from the same source but not sure. Please note the repro headers seldom reached the high reserve.
Good luck with the headers,
