Been looking at this site for a good few months now, and getting some great info from it. read most of the archives too, so i'll try to stay away from asking questions that have been asked a million times already.

My story: working sales right now, but a few years experienced welder. just got a 1968 that was running poorly when i got it, stripped it down to nothing and am planning a frame up restoration. right now i'm half way through replacing the floors, and after i take my stitches out this weekend i'll be back at it again! Safety tip of the day: Sheet metal is sharp! It'll be as low budget as i can keep it, lot of government work planned with it, and backyard body shops.

I'll start it out with a general question...Classic Industries set me a 900 page fancy catalog with what looks like everything i could ever need for the camaro. is this a reputable company to go through...i've had good luck so far with a few floor parts. anyone have experience with them?

I have a webshots page dedicated to the 68, and i'll have that to you guys soon.

look forward to talking with all of you like-minded people...there arent nearly enough surrounding me!

Thanks in advance,

-Andrew

Most of the big names in the NOS-RePop world have been around for years. Year One, Classic Industries, Ground Up Restorations, Danchuck, Goodmark, (even Impala Bob) have been around for years. They wouldn't stay in business long if they didn't offer affordable quality parts (just check this site for the occasional piece that slips by QC, talk about your conspiracy theories). Their catalogs are also treasure troves of information on what the part number cited in the manufacturer assembly manual actually looks like.

Welcome to the site, and best of luck on your restoration. So did you get a parrot with the stitches? A'vast there me hearties! Arrgh! We just closed out our annual pirate festival (Gasperilla).

Welcome to the site Andrew! It's always good to see another local guy on the site, especially one with a 68. There don't seem to be many of us in Mass. Looking forward to seeing pics of the car. My car's mostly done so I have to live vicariously through people doing resto's like you these days.

The catalogs and vendors are all very similar; you'll hear good and bad about all of them. I've dealt with most of them including Classic and have had pretty good luck.

Thanks for the replies guys. i figured all the suppliers would be about the same...its the color catalog they sent me that has me stuck on them. its real nice...good marketing.

Kevin...where abouts in Mass are you? I'm in Upton...right near Hopkinton. how much of the restoration did you do on yours? Did you work with anyone local with any problems you've had?

Hey Andrew. I'm up on the north shore near Newburyport. I don't think there are any other members nearby, but there are some down your way. Back when I did my car I worked with a buddy who was also building a 68. We were able to compare notes and help each other out. It's always more fun when you have some help that's interested in the same car as you. I only wish there was a site like this around back then, because I had a ton of questions but not many people to ask. Take advantage of the good folks here, they'll help make the project easier. Good luck on yours and if there's anything I can do to help, just let me know.
