Is the intake on a 67 396 suppose to be orange or the natural aluminum/cast iron. I keep seeing pictures of both. Which is correct? Also did the valve covers come in chrome or orange.

Aluminum intakes were not painted. johnny67 Mar 15th, 06, 08:46 PM How close do you think my edlebrock performer manifold will look to the original 67 aluminum. I'm torn between originality and horsepower/performance Straight-line-69 Mar 16th, 06, 08:47 AM The Edelbrock RPM Performer looks reasonably close to the Z-28 alum. intake. In fact if you filed off the logo you'd be hard pressed to notice. I think the 67 intakes had the oil fill tube attached in the front. Aftermarket and post 68 intakes don't have that provision. johnny67 Mar 17th, 06, 01:26 AM The Edelbrock RPM Performer looks reasonably close to the Z-28 alum. intake. Aftermarket and post 68 intakes don't have that provision. that is a good question. Did the 67 396's all come with the oil fill tube? bertfam Mar 17th, 06, 08:04 AM All small blocks from the 1955 model year through the 1968 model year had the oil fill on the intake manifold. 1958 through 1965 "W" Blocks (348 & 409) also had the oil fill provision on the intake. 1965 through 1975 Big Blocks (366, 396, 402, 427 & 454) had the oil fill on the valve cover.
