: Can I adjust my hood?

I noticed my 68's hood sits a little high on the drivers side front, about 3/16 inch above the fender and valance. It sits pretty much flush all the rest of the way around. Can this be adjusted?

Sure, loosen all tbe bolts EXCEPT the front upper one on the hinge to fender. Not too loose just crack them. Now open the hood and push up opening it up farther than it wants to go. This will rotate the hinge on that front bolt bringing the back down, thus lowering the hood at the rear only. If this has already been done and the hood won't go down any farther, then put a shim under the front bolt that mounts the hood to the hinge (between the hood and hinge). This to will bring the hood down in the rear.

...and dont forget about the hood stop on the core support. It might need to be adjusted also.

I may have misstated my post. The hood is high on the FRONT driver's corner. It sounds like your instructions were to lower the back of the hood. I'm flush at the cowl on both sides and at the front passenger corner. Can I just invert your instructions to get the front of the hinge lowered?
Thanks!

There is a rubber stop on your rad. support take the rubber off you will see that it can be ajusted there with a screw driver and a weinch. The rubber stop is wright there in the front.

I guess that is why I was a "C" student, I can't follow directions! Well the rubber bumper is the answer, but hey, if you ever have a hood that is high in the back you'll know what to do! http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif

LOL, I sort of did that once. I have this habit of immediately putting the keys in my pocket after opening the trunk of any car. And because of this I have only locked the keys in a trunk one time, but you see I did it that time too! The keys were in my pocket!! I jumped in the trunk to do a water test. My brother still laughs out loud when he thinks of that one! http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif

Keep in mind if you adjust the bumpers down on the core support, you may also need to adjust the striker on the hood.

It was the bumper. I adjusted it and it's flush now. I need to slightly adjust the centering now. It's real close to the right fender but has a larger gap on the left and the center ridge doesn't quite line up with the header panel. I assume just slightly loosen the hinge to hood bolts all except the left rear one and then bump the hood over to the left a little, then tighten?

On the hood losen one side at a time move it a little close and check then do the other side. Mark the hood so you can keep up with were you started and how much you mave moved it. Sorry this may be to late but had to do some work.
