View Full Version : selfaligning roller rockers RyanW Mar 14th, 06, 04:28 AM Hey is there any issues with pulling the guide plates(replacing with correct washer) and running self aligning roller rockers? nothing else needs modified right? Ryan zdld17 Mar 14th, 06, 07:59 AM I don't see any problem with removing the plates but if you run them make sure the push rods and plates are hardened. Remember that if you have alloy heads , you need the washer. And if you dont use one , your stud will set lower thus taking away the height, hopefully you still have enuff thread for your poly locks. I do know that when you add the plates , you need to make sure the stud thread is long enuff to go all way in head threads. I used ARP studs when doing this and be sure to add some thread sealer as some heads go thru the water jackets. As for using both the guide plates and self align rockers, I see no problems but you do need one or the other. RyanW Mar 14th, 06, 08:09 AM thanks zdld17 Im planning on switching from plates to self aligner and wanted to make sure there werent any problems. thanks! zdld17 Mar 14th, 06, 12:01 PM Just watch for stud thread length and seal them,, Most Goodwrench motors come without plates but I have heard of these factory self align rockers running off to one side. BPOS Mar 14th, 06, 12:26 PM As for using both the guide plates and self align rockers, I see no problems but you do need one or the other. Using both is a big no-no - it can cause a bind which leads to problems. One or the other, but not both. Not sure which heads you are using, but if you are changing rocker ratio at the same time, make sure that the hole in the head where the pushrod passes through has plenty of clearance so that it does not contact the pushrod at any point during the cycle. Since you already had guide plates, you should be ok, but definitely check. zdld17 Mar 14th, 06, 01:00 PM ok, i give,, my mistake,, |
