I think I want to take the front sheet metal off of my 67RS all as one unit. What's involved it doing it? Right now, the engine/trans are out, hood and hinges are off, control arms/shocks/springs are off. Do I need to take the inner fenders out first or will they come out with the rest?
Any hints would help.

Just out of curiosity, what is your reason for wanting to remove the front clip as one unit?

start by removing upper cowl in front of your windshield, remove your front bumper with the brackets attatched to the frame all in one, undo your wiring ground wires and unroute your wiring, remove 2 bolts on bottom of fender near the front of the rocker, remove the bolts that attatch the fender to the rad saddle, remove the bolt on the firewall< fenderdid i say to make sure your doors are open before you undo the 2 bolts on the bottom of the fender first??hmm, above the top door hinge on the car, remove that bolt, and the last bolt to remove should be on the upper cowl, there should be 3 shims there with it, your inner fenders will come off as a unit and it should take 3 guys to lift it all off carefully without bending it all up, good luck !!

I want to keep the front end together since it is aligned perfectly, not sure I would ever get it back as nice as it is.
Why would I need to unroute the wires? Shouldn't the light harness unplug at the firewall and come off with everything else?

yeah just take the wiring off the firewall itself too then with it, sure, what ever lol

It'll come off just fine in one piece - that's exactly the way it was built originally; remove the front bumper, disconnect the wiring, remove the two bolts at the bottom of the rad support to the frame, then remove all the fender-to-body bolts (top, front, side, and bottom) and the lower brace-to-inner fender bolts, and it will come off in one piece.

As usual, John Z is correct. However, if memory serves me correct, you will need to take off the front wheels or there is not enough room to get the clip off without really tweaking the front fenders. Of course the front end will need to be on jack stands. I am going from memory, and haven't actually done this since 1972.
