Can anyone tell me if there are different size flywheels for a sbc? The reason I ask, I purchased two covers and neither one fits my flywheel. I have a powerglide in a 67 Camaro. the flywheel hits the cover before it can be bolted up. Did the 327 have a different size than the 350 or did it matter on somehting else? Evidently I have a large flywheel and I can't find a cover to protect it. Were they different for 8's and 6's?

Thanks

Dave

Dave, there is a 14'' 168 tooth flywheel and a12 3/4 153 tooth flywheel.
of course there are different covers for glide, th350,and th400.
i don't know if this helps!

My first thought is that the cover is bottoming out on the oil pan lip in stead of running on the outsid of it or behind the oil pan. Thats the half moon cut out area. Can you put a light up in there and see. Only other time it will hit is on the convertor or flywheel edge and you will notice it when you start it.

THANKS FOR THE REPLIES: The cover is definetly hitting the flywheel and not the pan. I must have the large flywheel. problem is when I now look at D&R and Rick's first generation for a replacement they mention only a 101/2' and 11" for the "glide" and the TH350 and TH400 have no size spec at all.

Well get a piece of chaulk and mark one tooth and count so many then move to next batch. Use either a remote starter or a flywheel wrench which would be safer and slower... Will the larger cover fit? Don't both have the same angle up?

You guys are confusing me. Are we talking about a flywheel or a ring gear? I'd say that automatics, which powerglides fall in to, have ring gears. There are 10 1/2 and 11 inch clutches/flywheels. I'll look at some ring gear info when I get home and add it if it looks valuable.
