Has anyone used the ram air box part number 14hs from www.ramair box.com? I was wondering about quality and fit. Its going on a 69z28 with a cowl hood, small block and a performer rpm intake with a hooley 650 dbl pumper. I am also interested to know if it clears a small body distributor, and whats the quality like?

I don't know which one the 14HS is, but I've got the 3" tall with the wider inlet angle. With a drop base, it clears my SS hood just fine, but it just rubs a tiny bit at the inlet ducts. Not a big deal. This is with a Mighty Demon (so same as you) with a Team G single plane intake. I also have a small body distributor, but I had to notch the box to fit. It was really easy and I'd recommend it to anybody.

It sounds like your setup is with a snorkel ? The 14 hs is the one that is supposed to fit a cowl hood and use it dor cold air. How much did you have to notch for the distributor?

I use it on my 68. It takes a lot of effort to get it to clear accessories and "stuff" on the radiator support (if you run the tubes through the top of the support). The quality seems real good -- comes with a black gel-coat, I painted mine to match the car. It clears my MSD, but not by a lot -- I use a Vic Jr and 1" spacer with a 1.5" drop base.

I made my own aluminum inlet tubes. The stuff that comes with their kit is just plain drier ducting hose.

the picture shown above by eric68 is not the 14hs. I have the 14hs on my 68 with a single plane highrise VRjr. It works well. The 4" filter is a little much and protrudes into the hood opening. 3" would work better. The filter base is a 1 -1/2" drop. Check the website at ramairbox.com for a good picture of the 14hs. If you do not have a drop base, they can supply it. I would send a picture but I don't think they will allow me.

Scblucam thank you. Everyones input is always appreciated. Did you use there base or someone elses? I have a moroso drop base air cleaner currently and would like to re use it if possibble. How is the clearnce to your distributor and is it a small or large body distributor? Also did you actually notice any performance difference? Thanks.

Scblucam is correct -- I didn't realize that the part number mentioned is the cowl induction setup.
