: My exhaust like a Lamborghini Murcielago, also split rear bumpers and frenched plate.
Camaroboy69 Mar 15th, 06, 09:54 AM It was a perfect weekend. Sun out and 55degrees!! Had to take some more pics for everyone. I finally got to drive the Camaro for the first time with the new exhaust set up. Sounds perfect and actually has a very unique tone since the tail pipes are soooo close together out the center!!! Drove around the beach with Heather for about an hour and a half just cruising. Had to fry the tires a few times of course. :D
I still have to bolt up my aluminum QA1 shocks.

DanW Mar 15th, 06, 09:59 AM Watch what you run over; those pipes are low.
Camaroboy69 Mar 15th, 06, 10:04 AM My mufflers are the lowest part of my exhaust and they have been that low for the last 3 years with no problems. I just avoid speed bumps. ;)
musclecarjohn Mar 15th, 06, 10:25 AM Looks great...you must be proud!
Killer stance too!
s4dustin Mar 15th, 06, 10:26 AM looks great...now paint it a Lambo color....thier paint is out of this world.....
Camaroboy69 Mar 15th, 06, 10:33 AM Thanks for the compliments. Here is a render of what the car will look like when I paint it hopefully this year.
The top will be 2006 Magnum Black, Bottom will be 2006 Viper SRT10 silver and the orange is going to be House of Kolor SUnset pearl orange.
Carter from House of Kolor did this render for me.
Sorry if the pic is too big. I can place a smaller one.

Camaroboy69 Mar 15th, 06, 01:36 PM Any chance of a sound bite of the exhaust?
Here is a sound clip of the car the night I finished the exhaust. It is audio only. http://www.adfabdesign.com/Illusion/Exhaust/Camaro%20sound%20clip.wmv
I will also put this in the first post so it can be found easier.
Camaroboy69 Mar 15th, 06, 01:45 PM Here are some videos of my car in action. There are a few of me against 2004 C4 Corvettes on Gingerman raceway. Yes a raceway not a dragstrip.:) http://www.adfabdesign.com/Videos/Videos.html
sixtsevnssrs Mar 15th, 06, 02:09 PM That sucker is bad-a$$!
HwyStarJoe Mar 15th, 06, 04:38 PM That's a 383?!
I need to rethink this 350 slug I'm putting together.
It's sounds wicked. And runs like a scalded dog! Very nice job Adam!
:beers:
Joe Harrison Mar 15th, 06, 07:35 PM Sounds good and looks good, now be honest could those vetts school you or does your Camaro handle that good? They look to be not getting on it real hard, but you don't seem to be eaither.
Joe

I have been extremely happy with my 383 and I will have one the rest of my life. When this one goes I will replace it with another 383. Im glad everyone talked me into this engine.

Thanks for the compliments.
Yes my car handles that good. Yes it surprised me too. I never expected my Camaro to handle as well as it does especially with stock drum brakes on rear and crappy disks on front. None of us were there to just take it easy on our cars so yes we are all pushing. The only car that passed me out there was a Porshe. Everything always looks slower on video. Those that have been to the track know what I am talking about. I hit 110 on the 2 straights at Gingerman Raceway.
Very cool, I like the look.
Brian
T/Y I love the positive feedback from everyone.
Great Videos man, loved it.
T/y The compliments are greatly appreciated.
Camaroboy69 Mar 16th, 06, 07:12 AM For an update: I have another event at the same track coming up on April 14th 2006. I am currently in the process of swapping from manual steering to power steering. I am also instaling a Hydratech Hydraboost since my brake booster has been bad for over 3 years and this was the ultimate replacement. On top of that I am installing a DC controller for the Mark VIII fan.
If you want to see any more of the information about my car just click the "Illusion Website" link in my sig. Tells EVERYTHING about the car.
LukeSkywalker Mar 16th, 06, 08:26 PM Looks like you are really enjoying your car. Great vid's!
shannon Mar 18th, 06, 06:58 AM CamaroBoy69,
I'm curious about your 1/4 panels, especially the right one. I recently started a thread wanting other peoples experiences w/ OER GM Resto. Parts full replacement 1/4 panels for these cars...and got no responses.
I was wanting to know if others had had the same fittment issues as I had w/ the right 1/4 panel where it fits up at the decklid and the upper rear corner.
Your car appears to have the same issues I dealt with and was just curious if you or someone had replaced the 1/4's and if so, what brand did you use?
Thanks,
Joe Harrison Mar 18th, 06, 10:21 AM That's pretty cool!! Your right about things looking slower. We are so used to seeing such fast race cars that are doing 180-200 MPH and 70 MPH pace laps.
Get some video at the that next event those are so cool. Got any details on suspension mods? It's great to see a Camaro (an old one) doing laps with those C5 Vetts. Those Vetts handle very well and it's nice to know and see our old iron can be made to keep up with new plastic!!
Thanks
Joe

I have never had any problems with any 1/4 panels I have replaced so far. I buy most of my replacement parts from NPD or Classic industries. So far all of our sheet metal parts come from NPD since they are so close to us.

As for suspension upgrades I really dont have any. Bone stock suspension. I just cut the front coils and de-arched the rears. Thats all. Since last year I added a Hydratech Hydraboost and QA1 shocks in the rear. Front has stock shocks which suck bad when I break real hard.

ORENCH May 31st, 06, 11:30 AM  Can't wait to see the finished product, that rendering looks great! Really liked the exhaust sound clip. Do you have a crossover pipe? I love the effect of the "X" pipe on my car.
67ptcamaro May 31st, 06, 09:08 PM Cody,
Do you remember that Ford Maverick kind of car a while back in the PHR mag. (Owner is a member at pro-touring site) It did have much better track time and G's than most high dollar car with MustangII front suspention which nobody thinks is good. So don't think always money equels performance. Do you know that 18" wheels does not contrubute to performance versus 17" with leaf spring suspention?
And how do you know his tires are second hand?
Camaroboy69 Jun 1st, 06, 05:36 AM Thank you HwyStarJoe. I also want to keep the thread civil. :)
Here are the specs on my wheels and tires to answer your question 67ptcamaro. You can see anything about my car you need to know in my signature. ILLUSION.
Nitto 555R Extreme Tires
Front 235/40-18-------Rear 275/40-18
Budnik Famosa 18" Wheels
Front 18x8--------Rear 18x9.5
5" BS------------5.5"BS

I believe that maverick car had race rubber tires which contributed to his better than average G rating. I also believe he ran the cone slalom pretty fast too, however I don't believe they had any track times. I actually watched that guy race his car at the track in bakersfield. Not to put him down or anything but it didn't seem all that impressive, however you can't see much sitting from the grandstand :) so its possible maybe he was doing pretty good farther down the track. The one guy who really did shine was CarlC who is a member here, for such a basic setup/combo his car really was hauling ***. I believe it also boils down to the driver, which carl appeared to be. He was pulling really good lap times, about as good as anyone else there including some porsches, C5 vettes, EVO's, and a weird turbo volvo. But this was all from a stop watch.
And the 17 v18" wheel thing is somewhat debatable, but I would say you are correct that going bigger from 17" is "usually" not going to give you any extra peformance. But it really all boils down to the combination. The new Porsche GT supercar I believe runs 19/20's. But I'm sure the engineers factored that into the build of the car
