View Full Version : who's sheet metal to buy s4dustin Mar 16th, 06, 06:41 PM i need to buy door skins, quaters, and 1 fender. do i go with NPD or Classic. Classic is more expensive...is there a reason why? clwilcox33 Mar 16th, 06, 07:19 PM http://www.belairbobs.com Bob is a supporting member of this site and a good guy to boot. Send him a private message on here and he can get you prices on whatever you need. Also, our official site sponsor, http://www.ss396.com (Ground Up Restorations) should be considered. Other than those two, they rest are up in the air as far as Classic, Ricks, NPD, Firewheel, etc. and are all good companies to deal with from what I know. importkiller69ss Mar 16th, 06, 07:36 PM i have always used classic in our shop we had a guy who brought us some other metal i think from year one and we could barely weld the stuff it was so thin...classic has good fit and better metal imo go2fast Mar 16th, 06, 08:33 PM Isn't most of it made by the same chinese vendor? Camaro Dave Mar 16th, 06, 10:42 PM In this case it's USA made in Canada sheet metal. s4dustin Mar 17th, 06, 09:38 AM i have a classic industries an hour or so away.. thanks for the info.. rmadsen55 Mar 17th, 06, 06:47 PM If you have a classic an hour away that is the way to go IMHO. You can avoid the hassle and expense of shipping sheetmetal. There will also be no surprises or damage in shipment. You will know exactly what you are getting before you even pay for it. dawg Mar 17th, 06, 07:10 PM i bought all my body parts from the paddock their panels are much thicker and have correct fitment. also made in USA zdld17 Mar 17th, 06, 08:09 PM For what its worth,, I will say that I bought doors, hood, header panel, two quarter panels with the Goodmark stamping,,,,The only things that I considered worth their money was the hood. Doors too flimsey, one longer and shorter than other, Q panels too thin,, header panel would not fit with orginal hood that needed repairing anyway so the only way I could get a good fit was buy them both. On the Q panels,,,when I saw how thin they were ,, I just cut out center skin and used it , left the dog legs in place as all I was really needing was the wheel opening and rearward anyhow.. They may have changed now but 3 years ago,, they were bad. I made too many adjustments on doors to send back and then I had to deal with frieght truck damage. Got 4 hoods from Rick's with karate chops in center and bent ends before I drove 300 miles to a vendor to hand pick one. Never again. RickD Mar 18th, 06, 04:17 AM Which panels are made in Canada? gonewacky Mar 18th, 06, 08:49 PM Come on guys,!!!..... From what I've read and heard and experienced over the past few years, there are only a few manufacturers who make these sheet metal panels for "ALL" the companies that sell them, and from what I understand, most, but not all are made in Taiwan..:o So, it is possible to get good and bad panels from all or any of the manufacturers at some and or any point in time... it all goes with the frustration and satisfaction of the chase and the finish....:hurray: |
