I am using American Collector's Insurance, and really like them so far, it has been about 2 years. They are very easy to deal with, I just sent them a few pictures of my car, the amount I wanted it covered for, they sent me an invoice (very reasonable at that). Done deal.

Now, my question is, how do all of you have yours covered? Classic insurance? Regular insurance? and for what % of value?

Reason I ask, is because I feel as if I'm taking a bit of a risk. If (God forbid) something were to happen to my car, I don't have it covered for what it is worth, but I do have it covered for what I have in it. That's about 70% of it's actual value.

If you do a search, there have been many threads on this exact issue. I use Hagerty Classic Car insurance. Very few restictions, can't use it as primary transportation. I have an "agreed" value with them for 25k. I figure this is about 100% value. I may raise it to 30k next year. This policy has a $300 deductible. If I was to total the car, they will pay me $24,700. This policy costs me $197 per year. Whatever company you use, make sure that your policy has an "AGREED" value...NOT "STATED" value. If not, you could be severely disappointed and paid much less than you expect, if you were to file a claim.

I'm with Hagerty Classic Car also. Agreed value is the way to go.

Dvinny, I am glad that you find dealing with American Collectors easy.

I had problems dealing with them when I wanted my car covered for what it was worth, not what "they said it was worth". They would do an agreed value but it was far less than what the books and appraisers said it was worth. Their underwriter was tough, I spoke with him and he said that "our cars are not worth that kind of money for their company to insure". I got hooked up with Hagerty and have mine insured for agreed value and what the car is worth and canceled the other as fast as I could.

Do yourself a favor and follow what everyone is telling you....agreed value. Don't take a chance.

I have American Collectors Insurance. It is agreed value and I have never had a problem agreeing on the value.

I have Hagerty and I am one of the unforunate folks that had to file a claim(theft). Hagerty was very easy to deal with on the claim and when the car was not recovered they paid out as described in the policy. I only had to deal with 2 people on the claim. Everything was done over the phone and went fairly smoothly. Dang I miss that car.....
