I can tell you that your problem is not related to neither one of the parts you mentioned. It sounds like you might have a fuel problem or an electrical problem. It would be difficult to say without more information about your car, engine size, type of motor, etc......

If your wanting to check the brake switch, get a ohm meter, d/c plug from switch, and when brake isnt depressed, across the switch should read close to if not 0 ohms, when you depress the pedal it should read o.l (open lead) or infinity resistance
you might check the computers (not gauge's) water temperature sensor, the one the computer reads is usually up on the thermostat housing(2 wire), other is a one wire on the drivers cyl head, the main reason to lock the torque converter is to cool temps down besides fuel mileage, so if computer is reading that the engine is running hot, it turns tcc on more than usual
the problem your describing the torque converter clutch is locked in all the time, so its fine, the solenoid in the trans is working, and everything is getting power, i hope this helps ya. my monte carlo ss is doin the same thing, although the speedometer doesnt work in it (affects speed sensor, part of TCC circuit) i need to look at it pretty soon when i get a decent day to do it -derek
