My M20 has P9A30A stamped on it...and no vin. Why is there no vin? Was this a replacement tranny, bought over the counter?

Mine's (68 model) stamped on the top of the case, not visible in the car looking from underneath. Perhaps yours is there or others may shed more light on it.

I have one that was bought at a local speed shop with no vin.

The tranny is out of the car right now...and there is no other stamped number on it. Maybe it was bought at a shop too.

Does the P9A30A assembly date of January 30, 1969 match your '69 Camaro?

No, not really. The tranny isn't original to my car, but the date is close enough I am going to use it...it was given to me by my dad, so it is hard deal to pass up. I have no idea about the history of it...it just came with a car he bought, a 55 chevy, which of course it wasn't original to.
