Will a 67 or 69 muncie bolt up correctly to a 68 camaro? Also..which would be better with 4.11 rear an m20 or m21? I am looking for good launch as well as decent hwy rpm... ( I cant afford a 5 spd at this time)

Yes, either will bolt right up. To be honest, your not going to get a what i would consider a "decent" highway rpm with either tranny with 4.11s

Party-pooper!

Heck, there's been many a 302 motored Z-28 that went around running 4,000rpm on the highway through the years!!

Ta h-ll with gas mileage sorta deal is all!! IF you don't mind the motor noise??

He, He!!

Also, I beleave the M21 is more durable than the M20. Read it somewhere. The M20 will give a bit better launch though (see ratios).
Good Luck

Yeah... I figured neither will be great for the highway... But this is more of a go fast quick type of car than a hwy machine anyway....

I have broken many m-21's running a mild 350 and 4.10 gears, on the drag stip. The m-21 is kind of a dog in first gear. THe m-20 is better but has more of a drop between a3rd and 4th. I run a 26 inch tire and hit 3700 at 70 mph. I recently swithched to a m-22w and like the ratio split much better. I also couldn't afford the 5 speed swap. good luck with your decision.

Launch is a function of many factors. I've torn up way too many trannys, twisted shock mounts, and cleaned my share of rear clocks through the years.
You need to study this very carefully. Everything works in unison. Engine RPM, flywheel weight, 1st and 2nd. gear ratio's, etc...
Seek the advise of an expert. It ain't just a matter of throwing an M-21 up against a 12" or big 10-4.11 gear. Your torque output will find the weakest link, then BOOM !!! there you go.
