I'm in the process of changing out my subframe. back in 71 it was hit in the front. at that time a 67 subframe was used. I have since bought what I was told by the seller as well as two experts that it was indeed a 69. However, I noticed there is no hole in the center for the spoiler bracket. Please tell me this is possible on a 69 subframe. thanks! Larry, 69Rfine

Many 69's came from the factory without the spoilers. Only the spoiler equipped cars would have the hole drilled.

Is there anything that would tell you if a car originally came with the spoiler besides the hole?

Thanks Lynn! Sometimes you just keep asking yourself "if it's right" I would just assume the hole was there whether or not if it was used, so thanks for the relief. As far as the question after mine, if your 69 was a norwood built car I believe it should have a D80 code designating spoiler equipped, maybe even perhaps Van Nuys, otherwise I'm not sure. others chime in! Thanks! Larry 69Rfine

Only sure way is to look at the trunk lid tension rods. On a non spoiler car both rods are the same diameter, on a spoiler car one rod is thicker than the other.

19040 69 Camaros originally came with spoilers, thats about 7% of production. Take away the 4000 Z10's and Z11's that had to have spoilers and your left with only 15,000 cars out of 243000 equipped with spoilers. There were 20,060 Z28s made, so if they got all of the spoilers left (they didn't) that would mean only 3 in 4 Z28s had spoilers originally. When was the last time you saw a Z without a spoiler today? Probably only 1/2 the Z28's made in 69 had spoilers, and fewer than 1 in 4 had the ZL2 hood.

Only sure way to tell is to look at the trunk lid tension rods. On a non spoiler car both rods are the same diameter, on a spoiler car one rod is thicker than the other.

My car is a factory spoiler car because I have the thicker rod and it has original paint on it. The front clip and subframe,I am convinced, was changed sometime in the past because the front light harness was wrong for a factory console/gage car. There was no hole for the front spoiler bracket until I put one there.

Mine didn't have the rods when I bought it so I will just have to go with what is on it now. Thanks for the information.
