hello all, i have an 81 malibu with a 350 out of an 81 camaro. i am trying to figure out why the car is flooding itself when i get on the gas. When im driving normal it runs fine but when i stomp on it it floods at around 3000 rpm ive been playing with the mixture settings on the carb but it is still happening... could it be a vaccum advance problem any advise would help. thanks

It could be a defective mechanical fuel pump not allowing excess volume to bleed off (pressure is constant because of internal spring), or worn needle and seat in carb could be allowing engine to flood.
